Recently I've seen some reports of the Tumble Monkeys not performing during random Lion King shows. We saw it twice on a recent trip - the first time everything went as usual, but the second time the birds were absent - the singers just performed the song on an empty stage. It was very odd. We have seen it before when the female didn't "fly" - instead they danced and did lifts, but first timers would never have known what was missing. Not having them at all left a glaring hole in the show.
I was just wondering how often these acts are completely missing from the show? I assume it's because a performer can't make it and a backup isn't available, but I'm just curious since I've seen a few comments on it lately.
