What do others do that your kids don't loose the room key ?
Is it ok to punch a hole in it and have then wear in around their necks ? ( on a lanyard?)
I know that my 13 year old will loose it after a few rides .

I don't now if you can punch a hole in the room key. if you do you might not be able to use that card to get into the room. If you do it for your 13 year old, just use another card to get into the room.

Buy shorts that have velcro pockets.

Or what I do, is put everything in my back pocket that has a button on it. I usually only carry a couple cards (hotel, drivers license, 1 credit card) and $20. So I don't feel it when sitting down.

I learned the hard way...the first time i stayed on-site my room key fell out of my pocket during the first loop on the Hulk...I had to go back to the hotel and pick up another card, which cost me a good hour of park time.

I'd suggest getting shorts that have either zipper or velcro closures...My standard park outfit in the summer is water shorts/swim trunks that have a zippered pocket. That way I don't lose my key, and my money and other stuff stays dry.

You might even want to try a fanny pack around your waist, that's what my wife does with all of our cards:thumbsup2

I agree with the zippered or velcro pockets. My frist trip I didn't know you couldn't take bags on certain rides. I spent most of the ride worrying about my card in my pocket than enjoying the ride! Now I have a lanyard that I keep around my neck. It never seems to move.

The three Loews hotels havee been giving out (request one) lanyards at check-in. All gift shops have the Universal ones too. We fit our room key, annual pass, and $.

Others buy the lanyards at Walmart ($2) in the accessories section or the fishing section...... (we bought DS' lanyard @ walmart and it velcroed in the back, so i knotted it....i take it off him and wrap it around my wrist on DD & Hulk....DH & I have the badge holders on the pull-cord...so convenient...most times we flash our cards and they don't look at DS' --which HE is proudly flashing! --i wouldn't give the kids a pullcord badgeholder...i like the lanyard where i can see it.... you might be able to see DS' in my avy)

The first day we got there we bought the kids autograph books. They came in these little plastic bags with a snap. We put our tickets, and room keys inside this plastic along with our cash and I.D.'s. It worked GREAT and was VERY handy. I had a small tote bag I wore on my back everyday so we put the bag inside that. We also had water bottles, and snacks so the plastic bag kept the tickets and keys dry.

We bought the wallet lanyards in the gift shop at the hotel; they were about $5 each (and worth every penny!). They had a little window on them where you could display your room key and never have to pull it out, unless of course we were asked to (on some rides they scan your room key). When we were on a ride, we all put them down our shirts and never had to worry about losing them.:thumbsup2

Problem solved (I hope)
Found lanyards at Wal*Mart for under 2 bucks . The bottom part can be taken off without removing the entire thing from your neck. Also picked up some neck coolers ( the kind they use in the military) It will be hot the end of July
Thanks for all the suggestions

Remembered to take picture of what we do......

(retractable cord makes it great to keep in my pocket when not using it)

And DS has lanyard around his neck (so I can always see it) :thumbsup2

I like those shorts! Who makes them? (yours, not Bubba's)

We bought the neck lanyards on our trip and they worked out great all we had to do was show them to the attendant and in we went, no fumbling around trying to get them out of a pocket. We found out right away if you are doing the water rides you definetly want something plastic to keep anything you have made of paper dry.

thank you dear.....they are very old Union Bay (and I mean old....like over 10 years....maybe Union Bay still makes something of the sorts? :confused3 )

and yes, his lanyard ziplocked, ours only snap, but we only keep our AP's and room key in them, so if they got wet, it wasn't a big deal. Very convenient to pull that key out :thumbsup2

I remember a lot of discussion about "what to do" and thought I'd post (glad I remembered to take the picture...whew!)

well the problem I thought was solved by buying lanyards at Wally World ( Wal*Mart) but a friend just got back and gave us her Universal Lanyards !
They are worth it :cool1:

I kept all of the hotel keys on a lanyard. I bought a SpnngeBob little purse one at one of the gift shops which fit them all great. I don't trust the kids to keep anything!

That's why DS has a lanyard...it's always in my shirt....AND he was very responsible about putting it down his shirt before riding DD, hulk & Doom :thumbsup2 I personally can't stand that thing around my neck, which is why i use the pullcord badge holder. I figure DS doesn't have charging privledges on his card, so if he loses it, (which he hasn't yet) no big deal to replace....just inconvenient is all. For the record, not that it's a big deal, but either I or DH keeps his AP with ours ;)
