I need info on Halloween horror night. Has it improved now that it's over at IOA the last time we went it was at US and we found it to be just OK. After seeing it featured on the travel channel it looked much better so we thought we'd give it a 2nd shot. I realize that it is a hard ticket event but was wondering if FOTL applied. We are only spending one night there just to do this and might consider staying offsite if you can't use FOTL. Thank for your help.

On site FOTL doesn't work for HHN. You have to (and should) buy a seperate Express book with a ticket for each attraction.

As for the differences between the two venues. USF is better equiped to handle the crowds. It's awful on a peak night at IOA. Furthermore there is no parade, however I feel house quality has generally improved at IOA over USF. Express passes are for those who do not plan well. Develop a strong strategy (which varies from year to year, but always suggests the Stay & Scream) and be prepared and you'll find you don't have to blow money on the easy way out.

If you go then do the IOA during the day and stay in the park during the changeover. As long as you have your HHN tickets they will allow you to do this and you can eat dinner while waiting. The great part is that by staying in the park you can get into the houses before they are officially open. We got into the Psycoscarepy house and All night Die inn before the gates opened to the crowds and went through with no lines and no one ahead or behind us. This made these houses better as you did not see the scareactors jumping out at the other people and the affect was much greater as they basically waited and lurked for you. The four houses we did after with the purchased express passes were okay, but did not have the affect due to the lines of people. The express passes saved us a lot of time as we went on the opening weekend, but I don't know if you would need them during the week from what I have read.
