Hey guys! I hardly ever make threads, this is such a novelty for me
I wasn't sure whether this would hold any interest to anyone but I'm off school on my 5th snow day, it's 12pm, the roads still haven't defrosted and I'm waiting for my friend to call back. Basically I'm completely bored so decided to post anyways
My (immediate) family have always been animal lovers. Over the past my mum has had an extensive collection of pets ranging from your normal cat, dog, rabbit and fish to lizzards and terrapins. I myself was brought up around a beagle, a sheltie and two tabby cats. Currently we have a nutcase of a jack russell terrier and a gorgeous welsh section D pony
This is probably the point in my ramble where I get out the pictures but due to my mother's complete inability to work the internet my photobucket account has been somewhat destroyed xD
On to my main point (finally and please excuse my awful use of paragraphs) lately my mum has been searching around looking at ways to help out the animal charities. She came across this one charity called hope rescue, their website can be found following this link:- http://www.hoperescue.org.uk/. Basically what they do is rescue the stray dogs from the pound that they feel can be re-homed and live a happy life with a new owner.
Whilst many of the dogs get passed on to other charities such as the RSPCA and are re-homed through them, Hope also run a foster scheme system where a stray is taken in by someone to be assessed for re-homing. A dog can stay with a fosterer for anywhere between a few weeks to a couple of months. My mum thought this would be a brilliant and enjoyable way to re-pay the dogs for what they've given us (her words). I personally agree, it's so much better than donating money per month! With the reluctant agreement of my father we filled in a form to become fosterers and got a phone call last night saying that they're willing to consider us.
We have to be home-checked to make sure all our fencing is secure, they want to meet all family members and as we already have a dog they're going to bring a dog with them to see how she reacts to an intruder in her home. The worrying part is they want to see how my nine year old sister reacts to dogs. My sister has a firm belief that anything of a slightly larger frame will kill her and even if she's not truley scared she likes to act up for the attention. My mom is pretty convinced that we're going to fail the homecheck but at least we'd have tried. I'm actually really excited, it'd be so much fun to have another dog around even if we do have to give it up eventually.
I just felt like sharing that with you guys
Discuss.
Have you done anything for a charity? What charity? etc.
(I also apologise for my lack of grammar and horrible spelling. No my F8 key doesn't work).
