Question about transportation around Ft Wilderness Cabins:
We fly into MCO and always use Disney transportation, never been a big deal for us, but the idea of catching 2 buses or hiking around resort seems a little un-fun. I was looking at golf carts, but geez there expensive and there is 5 of us. It would be much cheaper to rent an actual car than a golf cart. So, I am wanting to know if
1) there is much car parking available around the resort (meaning at the dining hall, laundry facilities, swimming pools, by the bus to the parks, by the boat to MK)?
2) If you stay at resort do you pay for parking at parks, if you decide to drive?
And just in general thoughts, experiences or opinions on the subject...

Hi. You're not allowed to drive around the Fort to anywhere other than at your cabin and to and from the front parking lot for the buses to parks. Otherwise, you have to use a golf cart or internal transportation.

The internal buses are great, they run all the time and the routes are not long. We've done trips with and without a golf cart. But we love the Fort, we spend a lot of time around the resort so the golf cart comes in handy. It's great to go to the beach and watch MK Fireworks and the Water Electrical Parade, go to the campfire, singalong and movie, plus going to parks with the golf cart.

As a WDW resort guest, parking is free at all the theme parks.

This is not entirely true. If you are staying at one of the cabins, there is parking for one car at the cabin.
However, there really isn't car parking at the pools or boat dock for cars.

Right, I'll fix my post. I thought that part was implied.

Personally, there is no way I would stay there without a golf cart. As PP said, you can't drive anywhere except to your cabin and the front parking lot. Otherwise, it's internal buses, walking and golf carts. As a resort guest, you will be able to park your car at the parks for free.
