Does anyone know why the Premium Sites for camping at Fort Wilderness are NOT included in the DVC vacation points? You can only get a Preferred Site and since the most of the Preferred Sites are being converted to Premium sites that will leave very little availability for DVC members.

I'm thinking that only a very small portion of DVCers actually use points to camp. When the non-DVC point charts are re-negotiated, the Premuim sites may be an option if enough members want them. You can always contact member satisfation to make your feelings known.

Thanks Chuck. I have contacted member services and they have no idea when or if the Premium sites will be available for DVCers. Also, there either are alot of members camping or very few campsites allocated for DVC because campsites are hard to come by. Next year I had to make several reservations to get the time I needed. I had to book a regular reservation and then hope to get DVC reservations. Anyone else having trouble getting Fort Wilderness campsites reservations?

Huh...seems like another scam by DVC. Not good to hear this since we have fallen in love with taking our RV down to Fort Wilderness. We thought it was tough just to get reservations at our home resort...now it sounds like they've made this a pain in the neck also. Its sad that it takes such agony to go enjoy the happiest place on earth. They need to start suckin' up to us DVC members and stop jerkin' us around!! :sad2:

I would guess that a very tiny percentage of DVC members use their points to camp. At any rate, using points for a campsite constitutes an exchange out of the DVC system, and the per-night point cost and number of campsites available is not entirely under DVC's control. That's the kind of thing that's negotiated annually with Fort Wilderness.

I tried to make a campground reservation on points in February for the early October time frame. Even though there were sites available for cash (still are) DVC said they had no available sites for any of the 12 days we were looking for. So we have a cash reservation. Since this was the first time I tried making a campground reservation, I didn't know how hard it was (is). The cast member blamed it on the Food and Wine festival along with the Halloween party and said it was up to the individual resort to release spaces for DVC. I thought it may have something to due with the slow economic times and whether DVC was having issues renting out the cash rooms at there resorts and therefore not making their money back on the transfer.
