Has anyone stayed in the cabins at Fort Wilderness during Thanksgiving/Late Nov/Early Dec ???

I'm wondering if it's too cool to enjoy the 'wilderness' at this time of year. Or is this a silly question?

And how long should we stay to take full advantage of everything (or most things ;) )?

 TIA

We have camped many times at Fort Wilderness in a tent so we were very aware of the weather! It is usually great but it can get into the low forties at night. We were there mid-December and one night it got down to 26!! Luckily we brought a small space heater.
But it is really nice to go at that time of the year. Bring coats just in case so that you can still go to the campfire movie. Have fun!:)

Thanks Wendy. :) Do you have kids? And how long do you usually stay? Hey, just noticed you're from Portland.....I'm from Boise, well Eagle. ;) Hi.

Late November, early December weather is usually fairly good although a cold day can creep in. The cabins are of course both air conditioned and heated. Day time activities (petting zoo, pony rides others) might sometimes require a jacket. In the evening it can get cool but a good sweatshirt is often all that is needed. How many activities you engage in at FW is a matter of choice. We found the campfire to just be so-so. You could probably do everything at FW (including canoe, hayride, campfire etc.) in one day if you spent a day doing it but I think most will agree that the parks are more exciting.

Thank you drusba. :) I appreciate the feedback. :)

I have 3 kids plus my Mom used to go with us too. We would bring all our campiing gear on the airplane. It was a real pain but there is something very special about staying at Fort Wilderness that is very different than a hotel stay. Somethiing about waking up to the call of tropical birds in the trees and fresh morning air and knowing the Happiest Place on Earth is just across the bay! Each morning I would walk to the little store and buy milk for our cereal and we would eat at our tent site. Some mornings we would do the breakfast buffet at Trail's End (next to Pioneer Hall) which is a good deal.
We would stay for 2-3 weeks and have since joined DVC which is also very special in a diifferent way. We still go for 2-3 weeks once a year. As my older children are teenagers, I am especially aware of time spent together as a family. Have a wonderful trip!
