the jogging fitness trail? I seem to remember you could walk/run/take a golf cart down this path and near the end of the path you could see the Contemporary and the really large tree topiaries.

Is it still there? And how do you get to it. I was telling my kids about how it was one of our favorite things to do as kids (my brother and I) when my mother wanted us out of the camper to put the baby in for a nap in the afternoon and I got to wondering if we could still do this.

It is still there.

It runs from near the Pony Rides/Petting Area/Horse Barn (Settlement Area) over to the Wilderness Lodge.

I remember it but I don't know if it's still there. It's been quite a while since I've stayed there.

Wasn't it a Vita Course? I remember when those were in vogue :) Wonder if it's still the same.

I've moved this thread to the Camping at Disney World board. I'll be there are people here who can tell you everything there is to know about the jogging trail. :)

It was! if not an actual Vita Course, it was based on it - it had the paved jogging path with various stations you could exercise at.

i can't make out on Robo's map - is WL to the left on that picture?

And obviously, WL wasn't in my memory from the 80's LOL, so can you still see CR and the topiaries?

(this is exactly why I didn't post this on the camping board in the first place )

There is paved path that goes from Ft. Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge.

Don't know if that is the original path that you are referring to.

Even if it is, you can NOT take your golf cart down that path.

LOL. I figured I'd just walk it ,if it were the same path, just to show the kids. (no cart necessary) but back in the 80's, the path I"m talking about, was plenty wide enough for a golf cart. :)

I'm not sure why I'm fixating on this path, lol, but we have talked about it a lot, and we have a lot of pictures of us on it - it must have been a good free thing for my mother to send us off to do while the youngest was napping.

It is still wide enough for a golf cart, but Disney has put the concrete posts at each entrance too close together and have put out a rule that no golf carts allowed. Only walking/jogging bicycles are allowed.

Go to the beach, hang a left, there is a path thru the sand to the WL.

Yes, the path that now exists from FtW to the WL was once the "fitness trail". No, you can no longer see the CR because the path ends at WL. It used to go to the main road that took you to the CR. The exercise stations are gone.

You can either walk/jog the trail or ride your bike on it. It's approx 1 mile from the stables at FtW to the end at the WL bus stop station.

I remember that there were at least remnants of the exercise stations along the pathway when WL opened, because that was the first time I made the trek across it. I don't recall when those disappeared though - they were getting a bit rusty and unappealing when I last saw them, and some had pieces missing.

ah that's sad - I almost wish (rusty or otherwise) they still had some of the stations.

Sorry,,no can do,,,,it's a jogging path.
hahaha.. we'll walk fast.
