The cabins have been booking pretty fast for 7 month availability and there were hardly any at all for July-December yesterday. However today a whole lot opened up for August, September and some in October. I had waitlisted Sept. 30 to add that day to an existing reservation and while my waitlist was not fulfilled I was able to nab the available one I saw for the date I had waitlisted. I guess they might have added more DVC inventory. I have to wonder how often and when they run those waitlists?

I'm hoping to snag one for late Jan 2025 - the window opens later this month to book. I tried last month to see if I could get a September, but they were all gone. I wonder if I should look again - I've got a Boardwalk booked for Sep, but definitely want to try the cabins at some point - either I try for Jan or consider switching out my Sep stay...though at this point waiting for Jan may still work out better so I don't have leftover points for this use year to deal with.

I would suggest you figure out exactly which dates you want in January and then at the 7 month mark be ready online at 8am exactly. So, you would be booking for January this month on the day you want in January at 8am. September is still really hot and rainy here in Florida and hurricane season. January weather should be nice for the cabins. September is a popular month for the cabins because they only cost 15 points per weekday night. January is still pretty low points, too, though. Good luck! Oh, and you may want to reserve a golf cart if you get a cabin reservation. Ft. Wilderness is pretty spread out and you can only really park at your cabin. There is an internal bus system and you can take a bus to the parks from the front of the Fort if you don't want a golf cart, though.

I noticed the extra rooms as well. I had been looking to add one more night to a reservation I already have and I would check every now and then. My waitlist didn't hit either, but I went and modified my original reservation to add the night once I saw it.

Not sure how often they run those waitlists, I always assumed it was a computer algorithm that searched for matches and automatically made the change. I had one for 9/22-26 that came through today!

I had one for a similar date range that came through today too… and the dates are still available now. I hope It wasn’t a glitch 🫣😂

Florida has had a dry spell Maybe they completed more cabins ahead of schedule.
This week forecast and upcoming hurricane season could cause delays too!
Just keep checking for your dates . Good luck

I'm lucky (or unlucky) enough to be a Florida resident - I'm in S Florida, so same heat and humidity, but more rain. I'm used to that - funny thing is, my family always enjoyed staying at the cabins even in June - the tree cover provides lots of shade, the golf carts to get around meant a nice breeze and less walking, the lake always seems to have at least a light breeze, and the boats to get around to Contemp or MK are always relaxing and also a nice breeze.

Most likely I'll be trying for January first - and definitely plan on a golf cart if I get a reservation - that's one of the biggest parts of staying there for me is the cart to get around to the bus stop to parks, or boat to MK/resorts...I have no desire to use the internal bus. I do miss when they used to let you take the carts down the path to Wilderness Lodge - we'd cart over there for dinner and back again and it was fantastic!

We had a 4 night waitlist come in yesterday for the cabins from Monday to Friday the week of Thanksgiving. Utterly shocked and amazed that happened! We only put the waitlist in a few weeks ago as well.

Is anyone able to tell me if there is any availability around July 1st? I am not a DVC member but check in that day in an old cabin, just wondering if the new ones will be sold out on opening day or not.

They only allowed so many to be booked because that's all they knew they'd have available...as they have gotten more cabins ready they've enabled booking them as well.

We’re not allowed to check availability per Disboards policy

As more cabins come available, I believe the ease of booking will be comparable to Saratoga Springs. All of the cabins are in the south loop, which is an inconvenience. With the distance and Florida heat, most guests will need a golf cart to get around the resort. Moreover, the Meadow and Wilderness Swimmin' Pools are plain and void of any true Disney theming. Existing members will try the cabins, because of their novelty, but the reported sales suggest a low demand and a slow burn through points.

I had no idea that was a rule. Interesting.
To add to what has been posted, besides ever changing availability, it would be a way for those looking for rentals get around our board policy of not allowing reservations wanted posts.

This is quite unrelated to this thread, but I hear "cabins" and I immediately thought this was Copper Creek Cabins, and I was really surprised that availability was limited at 7 months.

They really need to differentiate these names since they're completely different categories.

Good luck in getting that changed. Villas at Grand Floridian vs. Villas at Grand Californian is a lot more similar than Copper Creek Cascade Cabins vs. Ft. Wilderness Cabins.

You know for the next 44 years though, people are going to be coming here, saying

“I want to book a cabin for this that and the other, thoughts?”

And the first question back is always going to be

“Fort Wilderness cabin or Wildeness Lodge”.

And half the time they’ll respond

“Oh I thought those were the same resort”

LOL, it’s already like that on the Disney Resorts forum!
