Hello,

I am currently planning a Fort Wilderness vacation for August, and I was wondering what you all think of the pool at Fort Wilderness, and the personal watercraft. I boat in my town on the ocean in the summer, I have grown up with boats my whole life. I thought it would be fun to explore Disney World from the water. Do any of you think it's worth it? How's the breakfast at Trail's End? I saw you can get food not through the buffet like waffles, cinnamon rolls, eggs. Lastly, What is the best source to get groceries at the Fort, we will not be renting a car so we need a company that delivers. Thanks!

The pool at the Fort is nice, good size and haven't seen it get to crowded, water slide for the kids, and plenty of loungers. The boats are fun we rented one on our last trip since we are Great Lakes boaters and the boat was laid up for winter under lots of snow so a boat ride sounded like fun. They offer three types of boats, a little two seater called the Sea Raycer for about $60 an hour, we went with a Boston Whaler 17 footer which seated 6 for $85 an hour, the biggest is a pontoon which would seat 10 for $85. An hour was more than enough time to cruise all over the lake, it was nice to see the various resorts from the water closeup and also the MK from various angles. We ate at Trails End three times, twice for dinner and once for breakfast, always had the buffet and enjoyed all the food. I did not look at the menu so I can't say what they offered. We used Garden Grocer to deliver our food, since we were on vacation I didn't plan on making any dinners at the trailer. We purchased some breakfast items, lunch meats, snacks, milk, oj, etc, etc, their web site made it very easy to order and pricing was very clear. We had delivery setup for the next morning after arrival and they showed up on time at 8am.

Thank you very much for the detailed information about what I asked! How much does Garden Grocer cost to deliver? Did you rent a golf cart while staying at the Fort? Thanks!

The cost of the items are a bit higher than we pay at home and I think they charged us $15 more than the total which included delivery, well worth it when you don't have a car, and a cab to the grocery store would have been even more expensive. You can sign up on their web site and do a dry run adding items to your cart while watching the costs. We did rent a golf cart from the company that supplied our trailer, cost was about $200 for the week. I don't think its something you need to have fun at the Fort but since this was our first visit I figured I would try one. We were in the 1400 loop which was right next to the Meadows pool and campfire and movie so we just walked over there. Most of the day the cart just sat at the marina or up front at the bus stop, though it was nice at the end of the day to arrive back at the Fort by bus or boat and just hop on the cart and be back at the trailer in a few minutes. For 200 it was fun and I would do it again (its vacation), but at Disney prices of about $60 a day would be $420 for the week I would pass.

Thanks again, Can you still rent from outside companies?

You can rent a golf cart from an outside company but Disney does not allow them to deliver onsite anymore, you have to meet them off Disney property and trailer the golf cart into the Fort then return their truck and trailer. Disney does allow some of the trailer rental companies to offer golf carts and deliver them with a trailer.

Can you list some of the companies that deliver to the fort

The name that comes up a lot is Kenny of Tee Time golf carts. There used to be several companies until Disney put the hammer down on them dropping off rental carts. Do a Google search for Disney Fort Wilderness Golf Cart Rental, I am sure Disney will come up a lot but so will the others that still offer rentals at this time.

What company do you recommend?

You will have to wait for others to chime in on that question. I only used the company that we rented the trailer from, and they don't just rent golf carts, has to be part of a package.

Ok thank you, I will wait for others who've rented offsite golf carts

With the new rules you have to go off site and pick up your GC. Without a car you're at a loss on that one. The food at Trail's End is sufficient in my opinion. It is definitely worth the splurge to rent a boat and explore.

Thanks for replying. Can you recommend any rv rental companies that you can rent an golf cart from?
