We just bought a 2004 travel trailer (35 feet) so our plans have changed from staying at a hotel to staying at the campground. Lots cheaper--more souveniers!!! Wondering if anyone has stayed at the campgound before--is it nice, clean, fun for the kids?? We have never camped before ever, but going to start this summer and hopefully get it down pat before we drive from Wisconsin to Florida next year.
Our kids are 9 and 5, will they enjoy the campgound?? Any hidden fees we should know about? How far in advance do i need to book?? Does it often fill up?? We will be going in early December 2004.

Thank you in advance.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness June 2-7 although we stayed in a cabin rather than a camp site. This was the best trip we have ever had out of over 20 visits! My dh, 16 yr old daughter and I loved the atmosphere & the laid back attitude. We really enjoyed the camp fire. The transportation was great. Can't say anything bad about it! Have a great trip!

We've never been lucky enough to stay at FW :( but we enjoy visiting and wandering. Is it clean? Oh my, yes. I remember noting how clean and attractive everything is.

Trails End is a good, casual restaurant and you have the barnyard and hayrides and the campfire and nightly movies. You also have Hoop de Doo right there if you decide to indulge. I noticed a sense of comraderie there too that I haven't seen as much of at other resorts.

Good luck!

I doubt that FW is cheaper if you factor in the cost of the new trailer, lol.

Have a great time, we love Trails End for b'fast.

I'll say it again and again and again....this is like no campground I ever stayed at when I was a kid. It really is an oasis in the middle of theme park craziness!

There are too many plusses to list but just a few are the petting zoo, boats to MK, atmosphere, critters, campfires, barbeque, and nature! Bring decorations...people always put up lites and flags and other cool stuff!

The only down sides I ever saw during my three stays were transportation (it can be slow and complicated in comparison to other resorts) and the pools. This 'resort' was built long ago and the pools are pretty bare-boned.

Lucky you....I have stayed in the cabins but always wanted to camp there. I envy the people who pull up their trailers and RV's....$40 dollars per day and you get all this!!!

Im not sure when the last time you stayed was, but in the past year Fort Wilderness transportation was revamped considerably. There are now direct buses from FW to Studios, Epcot, DTD/TL and DAK/BB. You no longer have to go to WL or TTC to catch a bus, although they have buses to those destinations if so desired.. The Chip/Dale, and Boone/Crockett are no longer. Instead, we have three separate color coded routes... one up/down each side of the campgrounds, and one along the middle.

The guests that I have spoke with all have said that this new system is by far the best they've seen.

Tyler that sounds like a great system. When we stayed at FW two years ago my only complaint was the bus system. I ended up driving to many of the parks because it took so much time to catch the internal buses and then to get the park buses.

Tyler is right....the bus system at FW is fantastic now. We were there May 27 thru June 3 and we never had to wait for a bus. It seemed as if they were always there waiting for us.

The campground is a great place to be. We have stayed in the cabins and in our camper at a campsite. You will love the peaceful surroundings.
