Any input about camping sights. We like the Fort Wilderness Area, have stayed in many of the resorts but was considering camping for a week, probably in a tent but may get a camper by then (November). We'll bring some food (mostly breakfast) but won't be looking to cook all of our meals there. I'd appreciate any suggestions about "surviving" the camping experience there at Disney.

There is actually a whole camping section on the DIS, which would probably help you more. FW doesn't need much surviving - it's a GREAT place to stay! (and very popular).

You'll get more responses if you post in one of the other Forums called Camping at Disney World. We love camping there and we stay in a tent (I imagine it's even more fun in an airconditioned camper!,) but I must admit the vacation is different than staying at a resort. The vacation seems to be much slower paced and we tend to not have early reservations at park restaurants because you never know what time you'll make it out of the campground (some mornings the showers are crowded and you just have to wait your turn!) Pop over to the other forum and read what others are saying.

Fort Wilderness is fabulous!!! We have a motorhome, so I can't comment on tent camping, but the Fort is a great resort. It's just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom.

It is very much a Disney resort! We frequently have breakfast reservations or go to early entry at the parks and we always make it on time, however, we do camp in our own rv so we don't have to wait on a shower.

The main thing you want to consider is which camping loop do you want? There are preferred with all hook-ups including cable, full with all hook-ups except cable, and parital with just water and electricity. I've seen tent campers in every type of loop, but some may prefer to stay in a loop without a lot of rvs - a partial would be best in this case.

Also Fort Wilderness is very large and you can't drive around in it (just to your campsite and when leaving the campground), so you may want to bring bikes (we do), or rent a golf cart (kinda pricey).

If you're tent camping then most likely you will be staying in the 2000 loop. We love camping at the fort, there just isn't anything else like it. It's an experience and many people just come there to camp; not going to the parks. You could also end up in the 1500 loop which has smaller camping pads so if you have a big tent or more than one tent you should include that information so that they can fit you to a camp site which will fit your needs.
