We are currently booked for FW cabins for 6 of us in early Dec. Am worried about the transportation and the description of being "remote". Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a better site to request? We were looking for accomidations for 6 of us(2 adults, 4 children 3-13) We found this to be the best deal economically, since 2 standard rooms was more $. Thanks for any input.

I think if you search on the camping thread you'll find maps of the camp grounds...

My family used the campgrouds 6 years ago and I'm one of the few that hated it because it had a totally remote feeling....

I would definately pick a value resort (2 rooms) over having 6 people in a cabin and only one bathroom. If you don't have a car you'll need to catch the internal bus system bus to the regular WDW bus.. I found it difficult to get any where but at the time I went the oldest of my 4 was 7 yr.....so, dragging 4 kids under 7 around the campgrounds put me over the edge....I switched to a "hotel" after 2 days....

There is a specific board for Ft. Wilderness campground. You might want to check that out.

The only difference with Ft. Wilderness transportation is there is an extra bus involved. There are internal buses that go through, around the campground, where you connect to external buses or the boat to get to your final destination.

Some families bring their own bikes or rent a golf cart to get around inside Ft. Wilderness. You cannot drive your car around Ft. Wilderness except to enter or exit.

Most people that stay at Ft. Wilderness in a cabin or in their own camper or tent love staying there. It is a destination all its own!!

We have stayed in a Ft.W cabin for two summers in a row. It is DH & I and 5 children 10-2 yrs old. We love the cabin feeling and having a full kitchen. There is plenty of room and although there is only one bathroom it is pretty big. Nothing like throwing a waffle in the toaster for the kiddies while mommy takes a shower in the morning.

The transportation is really good. There are internal buses that take you to either the marina(to catch a boat to MK) or to the outpost to catch another bus to the other parks. We usually take the boat to MK, but drive to each of the other parks.

You park your car right at your cabin door. Taking the van to the parks is easier for us because we have 2 little ones in strollers. Coming back for the waterparks is easier too, than riding a bus in a wet bathing suit.

There is a campfire/sing-along each evening that is lots of fun with Chip & Dale, as well as an outdoor movie. We love the Ft.W cabins.
