We'll be staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground during our Disney vacation. Has anyone here ever stayed there? I've been to several unofficial disney sites and it looks really nice!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

We have stayed at FW and it was a very nice resort. I would recommend renting a golf cart for travel around the resort. Visit the Trail's End Buffet and go to a campfire movie.

FW FAQ

Is there any way to request a particular campsite or camp loop? We I made reservations, I requested that we be near a comfort station, but I've heard that some loops are better than others.

We've requested loops for our two stays, once we got our request, once we got the next loop over. We have always asked to be near the comfort stations, since we have a pop-up with no restroom facilities, and we were near both times. There is a campground part of the DIS board, where you can ask questions too.

Have you checked out the Camping Board here on the DIS? Lots of other campers and folks with info.

We just stayed in one of the Cabins in January. And you can request certain loops, it's just like making a room request at any other resort. Just remember as they all tell us, "They are only requests".

Have a great trip

FW is a wonderful resort. So quiet and tranquil and soooo many things to do.

Bring the bikes if you can it is a great place to ride. I second the suggestion to go to the Camping at DW forum they are full of information.

As for loops it all depends on the type you have reserved.
Cabins: 2100 or 2200
Preferred (cable, water, electric, sewer) 400, 700, 1400
Full (water, electric, sewer) 1300 or 900
Partial (Tents & Popups) 1500

The loops we've always liked the best are (in order):

100 Loop
200 Loop
400 Loop
700 Loop
300 Loop
500 Loop

The reasons for this are that these are the 6 closest loops to the beach, Pioneer Hall (restaurant & guest services), the Settlement Trading Post (camp store) and the boat dock (your transportation to the Magic Kingdom). Refer to the map that Grumpy92 posted for the actual layout of all the loops......so you can make an educated decision.

Also, if there's anyway you can, take your bicycles with you.
