Fort Wilderness Campground Christmas 2010

We will be there from 11/28 to 12/8 for our first time visit ever to Disney. 40 years old and I'm excited for it. Green Ears should be done this week and in the camper by the weekend.

Hey Boardwalk_bride. Devores is absolutely right. I remember Christmas time last year. It was very crowded. Between the golf carts, bicycles, and foot traffic. There is hardly enough room for a car. I think the "sleigh ride" is a great idea. It seems to me they last around 30 minutes and take you to the most popular sites. After that you could head out on foot. I think a golf cart is the ideal way to see decorations. But, it's not cheap (not sure how the price compares to a sleigh ride).
Anyway, when are you guys planning on touring the Fort?

Dave

Thanks for the response! If I have my pricing right (and there is a good chance I don't) I think both the golf cart and the sleigh ride are both around $60. We have a dinner ADR at Trails End on Dec.2nd, so we plan on touring than! We went to ft.wilderness for the first time during our Honeymoon (for HDDR) and love it, so we are looking forward to going back to see it all decked out for the holidays! :goodvibes

We are here now and there is a site by the Settlement that has more decorations than my house, going back to see it tonight. The kids are loving it

Three weeks till our departure date. I have started clearing all of the "lake stuff" out of the camper and am gradually replacing it with "Disney stuff."

I spent the better part of a day replacing the bulb weatherstripping on the living room slideout, a task I have been putting off since our return from the Fort last December. This will hopefully correct the leaking that we experienced while towing home in heavy rains last year. We are fair weather campers, so the only time I actually may have to tow in the rain is when we go to the Fort. The removal job was kind of annoying, as the weatherstripping was dry and cracking but the adhesive was in like-new condition.

We were going to have to do a split stay, with the first two nights of our trip in a cabin, but it looks like there have been some cancellations because I was finally able to add two nights to the campsite reservation after only 6 months of calling.

I can completely understand as that is when we are arriving too!!! We can't wait, been doing the happy dance all week, lol. Jacob is very excited about seeing the castle and the "behind the scenes tour" you mentioned. Funny thing is I told my 22 year old who is also going with us and he got very excited and asked if he was allowed to see it too, lol. Too funny. So I thought I would ask, do you mind showing the older one too? What day would be good, I am sure it will take a while to set up and we don't want to bug you, lol.

Have a safe trip, see you there!

Hey Ronda, of course your 22 year old is welcome to come. I think the best day would be on Dec 7th, around 5:00ish pm (everything should be ready to go by then, hopefully). And any day after the 7th in the 5:00 pm time frame would be fine.
I look forward to meeting you, Jacob, and the 22 yearling.

Dave,

We have tix to the Christmas party on the 7th. Do you think Thurs would work? I think that is the night we planned to come back to the fort to relax after our 5pm dinner ressie at Whispering Canyon. Does that work ok or should we try another time? Thanks so much, we are really looking forward to the castle show!!!

Ronda

Oh no. We are there 3rd to the 7th, so it sounds like we will miss the show. Bummer. Which loop do you usually try to stay in?

The 3rd cannot come fast enough, but you know, I also love the pre trip anticipation almost as much.

Hey orleanss, I hope we get in the 700 loop. We arrive on the 5th, so it is possible that we'll be up and running on the 6th (hopefully no problems arise).
Look forward to meeting you guys at the Fort.

Dave

Awesome, we will loop around until we find you, lol, that is unless you know what loop you will be in. See you then. THanks again for being so kind!!! People at the Fort Rock!!!

Hey Ronda, we are trying to get in the 700 loop. I will post our site # on disboards, this thread, as soon as we know where we are going to be.

Dave

I'm with you !!!!!:banana::banana::yay::yay::woohoo::woohoo:

LOL!!! Both boys are super excited to see how you do your display. My older one was worried you wouldn't let him see how you perform your magic because he isn't a "kid" anymore. Such a silly boy, oops I mean man.

We have the carriage ride scheduled a day or two after Thanksgiving (not there after Dec 1 for their sleigh rides)...will there be many campsites with decorations by then?
