Fort Wilderness-Campfire??

You can park at the outpost where the main check in is. From there you catch the bus to the Meadows store. Right behind the Meadows is the campfire.

We ate at Trails End...the food was really good for a good deal...the service was slow and left alot to be desired...we were almost late for the campfire!!
But..it's a looong walk from there to the Meadows Campfire...I'd take the bus there...
And...yes..we saw the petting zoo :)

Does anyone know whether the campfire is open to guests of downtown Disney Hotels or is it just for Disney Resort guests?

We got there at about 6:15 or so...we sat down quickly...which was surprising to us, because it looked like there was a wait.. but we figured with the buffet we'd be done by 7 or so.. well...we were..but we didnt' get our check til about 7:15...then when I noticed that she charged me for my daughters buffet (she's 2..so it was supposed to be free) and I mentioned it...they went to find a mgr to take it off..so we didn't get out of there til about 7:40 :( - Basically..it was a 45 minute wait for our check... which is my biggest pet peeve..maybe it's just me.. LOL
All to save 8 bucks.... ohwell.. we used that money to buy smores with money left over :)
- But..the food WAS good! They have something that looks like prime-rib.. beware.. it's NOT.. Its Buffalo. Just a little gamey tasting to me.. but my hubby liked it fine.
Enjoy!

We went to the campfire program in 2001 and had a ball! DH, DS (11) and myself. There are seat with backs in the front and bleachers in the back of the campfire area.

We purchased the s'more kit from the chuck wagon (super cheap!). There was a family that brought their own popcorn popper for over the fire (which I thought was a great idea) so they had fresh (great smelling) popcorn.

Chip and Dale came around with boxes that looked like popcorn boxes - I was not sure what they were for until Sandy announced that Chip and Dale will collect their cookies now. (Or something like that) The little ones loved this they got to go right up to them and place their cookies in the boxes that Chip and Dale carried.

We were there at a time when it was pretty slow so there were plenty of seats. We will be going back in Aug 2004 so I am sure it will be more crowded. You do not need PS for the campfire - just show up and have a great time!

I have read (somewhere) that some families bring their little ones in pj's so when they leave they don't have to change (and wake them up) when they get back to their beds.

If you go to the campfire program you will enjoy yourself. It is nice to just sit back and really relax after a long day in the parks.

You can check out the camping board for a list of movies playing.

Hope you have fun.
