Can anyone tell me all there is to know about the cabins at Fort Wilderness? Any websites dedicated to this area or nice pictures somewhere on the net? Plans keep changing over and over about where our group wants to stay. First Riverside now some at fort wilderness and some at wilderness lodge. We love Wilderness Lodge but some members of our family may be sharing a room and going for the cabins instead. Any help would be appreciated. TYIA

The Cabins are nice - especially if you need to accomodate 6 and want a full kitchen. The prices aren't too bad either. The downfall is the pools are pretty boring. Fort Wilderness itself is nice and peaceful and the convenience to MK is great. It would be fine if you don't plan on wanting a lot of resort time.

The DIS camping board has tons of info.

Some of the pictures on this last site are old ones, but he does have current ones also. :)
We are staying there for the first time in 29 days!

if you have time - get one of the dvd or video - the one I have has the layout of the rooms on the dvd.

Yes, the DVD is great. One word of caution -- the still photos of the cabin interiors is correct, but the live action is not. Can't figure out why they are using outdated footage.

We love the cabins, the fact that we can cook out, put the kids down for a nap, (parents down for a nap) dont have someone next to, below or above is wonderful. No flushing toilets to wake you up. We like having the car right outside the door if we need to drive someplace. It also makes for carrying a sleeping child very convenient (especially if its raining). With the full kitchen you can have a nice prepared BF or Dinner without leaving. The convience of having food and drinks in the fridge with the maids doing the dishes is wonderful!
The only thing i dont like about FW is the Crummy SP. no theme no slides. WHy? all the other resorts do. But hey, the room keys are the same as WL so we just go there.

we stayed in a cabin once..we had 6 of us and it was alot cheaper than even 2 rooms at AS. anyway, the cabins themselves are nice and clean and roomy. it was nice being able to let my kids go outside and run around. we never used the kitchen, but could have. what I hated, was the accessiblity. It was a HUGE hassle to go anywhere. you have to take a bus to the front or back of the resort, then ANOTHER bus to wherever you were headed. We had our car, and used it ALOT! I have since stayed at the swan, which is in the epcot area, and will never stay at the cabins again. It was SO much easier getting around from the swan, and we did not have our car for that trip!!! Hope this helps you! Have a great trip!:wave2:

We stayed there in Nov. 2000, the first loop of cabins closest to the entrance. We never had any problems getting a bus. We got on the bus that went outside of the resort. There was an inside bus and the outside bus. Because we were on the end of the loop, it wasn't a far walk to the stop. also close was a pool and laundry area. We love the activities offered at FW, the campfire and nightly movies, the EWP, playgrounds, petting zoo, etc... The space in the cabin works well for the 5 of us. Kids can go to bed with the door closed and parents can watch tv in the living room without disturbing them. The bathroom seemed a good size too. Mousekeeping comes in everyday to straighten up, so you have most of the comforts of home, with mousekeeping!!!

I know someone already asked this question but I didn't see if anyone answered. Does anyone know if Disney has an 800 number or does everyone just call 407-W-DISNEY? Looking to book room with AP rate - very excited:)
