Has anyone stayed in a cabin in Fort Wilderness? Did you like it? Do they have maid service daily? Is there a washer/dryer in the cabin? Can you drive up to your cabin? Do you need a golf car or can you drive wherever you want to go? Do they offer room service? How clean are they? How big are they? Any helpful tips? THANKS!

Go to Camping at Disney, there is a lot of information there on FW

We stayed at the cabins in Sept. We really enjoyed them. The campgrounds are quiet and peaceful. It is great to have your own little "house" and not have people in rooms all around you. Mousekeeping cleans up daily and we LOVED that they cleaned the kitchen! No washer\dryer, but there is a laundromat at the pool. You can drive right up to them, which is a big plus. We rented a golf cart to get around, but the busses would be fine even without a cart. You cannot drive around the campground except to come and go. They are very good at this cause there is nowhere to park your car! No room service. The cabins are roomier than a hotel room, but not huge. It really depends on what type of accomodations you are looking for. We usually rent beach houses and cabins in the mountains. We don't like motel rooms anymore at all! If you want a resort type of place, the cabins are probably not for you. We loved being able to fix a bite to eat when we came in hot and tired from the parks. Also loved the boat ride to the MK! Will be glad to try and answer any more of your questions.

The cabins have a small bedroom with bunks and a full bed. In the little living room, there is a "Murphy Bed" which is a full mattress that folds down from the wall. There is TV and a VCR and the kitchen is full size. It's like a teeny little apartment. Everything is decorated rustic with wood-look furniture and quilts and lanterns. My kids LOVED it. They keep asking when we can stay there again. Ft. Wilderness is peaceful and everyone is so nice. Really a great getaway from all the noise and action of the parks...

WDWIG.com has great photos of the cabins, inside and out. Check it out! Look under "accomodations" and then under "Ft. Wilderness." There is a section where it lists "Jeff's FW cabin photos" and you can see for yourself if these are right for you.

I would suggest renting a golf cart if you can swing it, as the internal buses can be a hit or miss. Someone posted on the Transportation boards about their recent stay there and their major complaint was the bus service.

Other than that, we stayed in the cabins for a week last year and really enjoyed it!
:D
