Fort Wilderness Cabins

Are the cabins still considered "moderate"? We have never stayed in them, but I am pricing out different trips, and for nearly all of our dates the nightly rack rate is well over $400 and for our preferred dates, only $31 less per night than Wilderness Lodge! It was very surprising to me, the costs always seemed to be right on par with the other mods - now the prices for everything seem pretty all over the place. I was seriously considering them because we have never stayed there, and I love visiting that area for a more serene feeling but at that price, I'd really rather just stay at WL.

Yes they are still listed under moderate.

Look at these rack rates for 2020. It never dips below $400 and averages over $500.

I think the moderate classification is more about amenities then prices at this point. Look at AOA where the rooms are regularly the same price as WL as well.

Yes, but those are the suites, which I suppose really are pretty comparable in terms of size, but the cabins used to be priced quite a bit lower.

Id take a FWL cabin over those "suites" any day of the week ; )

Me too . . . but for just $30 more a night, it's tough not to pick the Lodge over the cabins! Though I do think they look so quaint and I would enjoy the more laid back pace.

Stay at FW in a cabin atleast once. It beats all the hotel (motel) rooms imo. You don't share walls, no one is under or over you. You cannot hear footsteps and doors opening or shutting. You have a full refrigerator and kitchen (convection microwave) to make quick food to save money for characters meal splurges. You still have a pool with a slide, hot tub and GOLF CARTS (cost extra $ of course). Get one that backs up to woods and not the road. If you drive your car is right next to your cabin for ease of unloading/loading.
The only negative is one bathroom and bedroom compared to AOA but it's cheaper than those suites. The price has gone up, as is the case for all Disney rooms. 5 yrs ago I got 325$ a night in February and 3 yrs ago it was 365$ pre tax, now it seems to to be 400$ and up most of the time.
WL is a wonderfully impressive lodge but is more like a busy hotel versus a semi private cabin imo.
