Hi! I was just wondering if anyone has stayed at the cabins in FW? I was going to book a vac in Oct 07 and I am tossing around a couple of resorts. Any comments!!!!!

I loved everything about the cabins and Fort Wilderness , EXCEPT the transportation......if your renting a car or don't mind taking a bus to get to the bus stop , then no problem.

I was surprised that we had a cookout one night and next morning housekeeping cleaned it all up ( grill area ) didnt think they'd do that.

:sunny:

Disney transportation and the un-themed pools are 2 minuses. However, we really loved the cabin and the extra room. The Murphy bed in the living room was great for DH and I, the 3 kids got the bedroom. It was the first, but not last, time we got accommodations at the "Home Away From Home" category, shortly after, we decided we liked the extra room so much, we bought into DVC.  :cheer2:

My kids really loved our stay in the cabins in May of '05. We did have a rental car and rented a golf cart. I really think the golf cart is a must if you want to really use the campground amenities (pool, gift shops, restaurants). You can also use the golf cart to drive to the registration outpost area where you can hop on a bus that goes directly to each theme park. The pros for us were: the extra space and "fun" of the cabin, the very peaceful and quiet surroundings, golf cart was fun and memorable-could drive it to marina to take boat to MK. The cons were: golf cart and rental car expense, I kind of missed the "hotel" feel that I like (being able to walk into the hotel lobby and gift shops, and food areas in a closer location), my kids liked the pool just fine, but it is nothing special or memorable. The resort is beautiful, and is a good value for the money for the extra space. :)

Hi there!! We just left the cabins on August 5, 2006, and we had a wonderful time! We drove there, and we drove to all the resorts except for the Magic Kingdom, which we took by boat....but I'll never stay anywhere else again! We booked through CAA (AAA), so we had priority parking, and the cabins were spotless. The bathroom is bigger than mine at home!!! We've stayed at All Star Music, and Caribbean Beach, and honestly, I'll never stay anywhere else than the cabins in Disney again!! Don't delay!! Book now!! Have a great trip...they're clean, and beautiful, and so private! :thumbsup2

We loved the cabins so much that we stayed there our first 3 trips to WDW as a family. We loved the extra space so DS had his own room & we had ours. We loved the full kitchen. We never cooked any meals there, but you could. It was nice to have the space & appliances for coffee, breakfast, snacks for our then picky eater with food allergies.
We loved the quiet coolness of FW, all the different activities - the fun of camping without the hardships of it, lol.
Transportation is more cumbersome than some of the other resorts. We never had a problem with it tho. It gave us a chance to sit down & put our feet up. The boat launch to MK is awesome. I love coming thru the passage by the Contemporary & seeing MK across the Lagoon. :cloud9:

IMHO, the FW Cabins are truly a Hidden Gem for families visiting WDW.

karenr518, just wondering what cabin loop you were in? We were thinking of requesting 2100 since its closest to the center of the resort. Thanks!

mla2177, have fun choosing your resort! There are so many great ones!

Hi Liz....we stayed in loop 2400. We were right at the far end of it though, and I had requested 2500 to be near the pool, but there was a cabin that was ready in 2400, so we stayed there. All the loops are close together, so the pool is a short walk from most cabins, but when I decided to do laundry, and had to lug my basket to the pool area and laundry room, it seemed like it took me forever to walk there! Being at the end of the loop had its advantages though, because it was so quiet there. :)

The 2100 loop is my favorite. We stay there a couple of times a year. I have gotten to like it so much that I have started having business meetings down there. Whatever excuse I can find. :)
