We usually stay in port orleans but it and everything else was book for the few days we can go in april. I have trouble after a few days with my knees due to a surgery I had. Can anyone suggest which cabin area we should ask for with my walking problems. The golf cart rental for a week at 49 a day is out of the question for us. We are way over budget staying in the cabin as it is. Also is the trails to go can you use your dining plan to get something or must you eat at the buffet?

You might want to consider renting an ECV (scooter) for the length of your trip from an external company. It will cost a bit, but you'll be able to use it to get around FW and in the parks too. This will help reduce your knee problems. The FAQ section has information on renting ECVs.

As for cabin placement, I would suggest you just ask for something like "near to main buildings for medical reasons". Make sure you state the "for medical reasons" as they assign these first. That way you should be reasonably close to the restaurants and to the dock to MK.

I'm afraid I don't know about Dining Plan stuff. If you don't get any responses on that here, you might want to try either the dining board (they have a whole sub-forum for the DDP) or the Camping board, as those guys know FW like the back of their hands.

This may get more responses on the main disABILITIES board, as it's a Disney related question. Hopefully one of those lovely moderators will move it over for you soon. :goodvibes

Good luck and have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I can't help with the dinning plan, but for you cabin you will need to request NEAR A BUS STOP. The cabin loops are not really near any main buildings, actually FW has several "main areas". FW has a good internal bus system that will get you from your cabin to the Settlement area(Trails End, boat dock and one trading post) or to the Outpost bus depot, with connection to every park except MK. FW is fairly large and the Settlement area can be a fair amount of walking, especially from the bus to the boat, an offsite ECV is really a good idea. You may want to ask your question over on the camping board or the resturaunt board for more info on the DDP.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

I moved this from the community board to this one as it deals directly with WDW.

Trails End is a buffet and is considered Table Service; so is Crockett's Tavern. So getting anything there is considered using a Table Service Credit.

You can hop the boat (can't remember if that's ECV-able or not), catch the bus or wheel along the footpath to WL though, if you want to get a counter service meal at Roaring forks.

The large boats will accomodate an ECV.

There are only a couple of cabins close to Trails End/Pioneer Hall. All the other cabins are quite a distance away. There is however, internal bus transportation that will take you all around FW. Ask for a cabin close to a bus stop. Good luck. I know all about knees. I just had one replaced.

Here's a link to a FW map. You can see how big FW is.

PS I think take out from TE is still allowed, but I'm not sure.

Yes the large boat to MK will accomodate the ECV, unfortunatly the smaller boats that run between FW, WL and CR will not accomodate an ECV. So if WL for counter service is your goal, you will ride the purple settlement bus from your cabin loop to the Settlelment Depot then transfer there to a WL bus. To get back to your cabin from WL, board the FW bus and transfer at Settlment to an Outpost Purple bus.
