This will be our 3rd trip to Walt Disney World, but our first time staying on property. I have reservations at the Fort Wilderness Cabins for 7 nights in January and have recently seen pictures of the cabins. I can't say that I was too impressed. I guess I thought they would be ummmm, not so old looking. There are 5 of us coming, the youngest is 14 so we need a place that can handle all of us and we got a great rate at the cabins. Being that we've never stayed at any of the resorts before, can someone tell me where they've stayed with this number of people and what they thought of the places they've stayed? I'm just afraid we're going to get there and wish we had stayed somewhere else. Thanks so much!

I've never stayed in the cabins but I have camped at FW. As far as the campground goes, it is great! I have no complaints about the grounds at all. From the outside the cabins look fine. But I have never been inside. Hope the trip goes well for you.

We stayed in the cabins before they were renovated. We had 5 children at the time. We loved them. We rented a golf cart and loved riding around the campground. The food is good at Trail's End, or you can save $ by cooking some. We have camped there also, so we liked having a good kitchen, bathroom, and tvs. The beds are all comfortable. We have stayed at several of the deluxe resorts, too. The children loved the campground, and being able to go outside. If the price is good, then even better for you. There is a differnce between a fancy hotel and the great outdoors!!!There are many activities at FW. It is great to be able to catch the ferry to MK. It is almost easier to drive some of the other places. The children and I like the buses, but hubbie wanted to drive sometimes. There are many benefits, but if you are wanting fancy, you may consider another location.

Don't worry you"ll like the cabins.
We stayed this past Aug and loved it.

The cabins look rustic, but they are not old. We stayed in them when they were first opened up (they replaced the older FW Homes) and they are great! We had 6--3 adults and 3 kids--and felt like we had plenty of room. I loved being able to let the older kids (12 and 14) hop the buses and roam the campground at will. They loved hitting the pool, arcade, and the basketball areas.

I don't think anyone on this board will think you've made a mistake--we all love Fort Wilderness!!

We just returned this week from a 7 night stay at the cabins. We loved them! They are not old at all! There where 4 of us and we had plenty of room. It was nice at the end of a busy park day to return to a cozy cabin. I am sure you will enjoy your stay there! Stacey ::MinnieMo

Thanks to everyone who responded!! I didn't realize that the pictures I saw were from several years ago and that they had remodeled the cabins since then. I happened to get a Walt Disney World brochure and saw a picture of the "new" cabins and I have to say, they look much different than the pics I saw. I'm sure our daughters will love taking the buses and having the freedom to roam around safely.

Thanks again for all your posts!! They have really helped us make our decision to stay there!!

70 days to go!!!

I concure with all of the above. Two things I loved, our mousekeeper loaded our dirty breakfast dishes in the dw and ran it for us everyday! Also, the bathroom was just huge! I've had smaller in houses I've lived in!

FW is sooo quiet and dark at night, it's like you're in the middle of nowhere, I just love this location. You guys will love the cabin and have a great trip!

The cabins are great as is the campground!!! The only problem I foresee you having is the single bathroom.

Ask for a cabin in the 2600 loop, then you can send the girls up to the comfort station at the Wilderness Pool to shower and dress if everyone must shower in the morning.

Be sure and reserve a golf cart from the Bike Barn ... they are an attraction in themselves!
