Fort Wilderness Cabin Questions

We 3 adults, two children considering staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. A few questions:

How much dresser, clothes, etc, storage is there?

How is the bus service from FW to the parks?

It's my understanding there is no vehicular traffic within FW other than to your cabin. How are the internal buses?

I see there is a white sand beach. Is that basically for sunbathing and play, or can you swim?

Thank you! We're trying to decide between two rooms at Coronado Springs or the FW Cabins.

Just MHO-

We like the cabins alot. Plenty of room for all of you and your things.

The busses are slow both internally and to the other parks. It's an easy trip by boat to MK though and alot of fun.

No swimming in the lake any longer. Same reason they closed River Country. But the pools are fine for a swim. You can still rent boats to cruise the lake.

Added bonuses of the petting zoo, trails etc.

Try to rent a golf cart if you can get one (reserve early). It makes internal transport easier and more fun.

And make sure you use the resort to it's fullest. Go to the campfire and free movies with Chip and Dale. Go to the hoop de doo revue one night. And stock up on foods for the cabin to save money. We ALWAYS have breakfast in the cabin and usually dinner. Plus it's easy to store and pack snacks for the days in the parks.

We have the same 3 adult, 2 kids situation. (My mom always wants to go to WDW with us! Actually, this is a good thing. She's "game" and that third hand helps with the 2 kids! :p )

Nothing but the Wilderness Cabins seems to do the job for us. We've considered all options and configurations, like you. But the cabin gives us privacy among the 3 adults; and for roughly the same (or better) price as two moderate rooms, you get a full kitchen. That toaster, cold juice and hot coffee really spoiled me around quickie breakfast time when we went in January! We're going to make sure to get more use out of that kitchen next time around, in October!

The cabins are very homey. I don't sleep well in hotel rooms--this does not feel like a hotel. The other poster was right about the bus transport-- but MK is our main "gig" and the boat ride is special.

Let us know what you decide!

We just returned from the cabins.
I must say that I didn't find enough space to put our belongings.
That just may be me though. I felt like I never really unpacked because there wasn't enough places to put my stuff. We were 3 adults and 2 kids.
Also, try looking for FW info on the camping boards.
They're a huge help.

Rent a golf cart though. Makes life very easy...and fun!

They have 2 swimming pools but they are basic pools. No water slides.

Thanks for your help! We decided to go with the FW cabins. We've tried the PO-Riverside and CB (loved them both); and like to try something different each time.

We think we'll get a lot of benefit out of the kitchen!

Thanks again!
