another day with no rain at The Fort! A little lightning but no rain, the swampy areas are starting to dry out but not totally yet.

Are the garage & deck done yet?

We are thiiiiiiiiis close. Actually, the garage is done, except he needs to get his stuff out of there. (A few tools). The deck may actually be a bit longer. The composite posts from THD keep splitting. Of course the color we ordered is special order and takes about two weeks to get here. It's done, except for waiting on those new posts to come back in. (This may become Home Depot's problem instead of the contractor).

If you can, take one of the split posts into Home Depot & speak with the store manager about it. He'll be able to assess if it's the method of installation causing the problem or if it's the material itself. If the S.M. is anything like ours, he/she will be honest with you. If it's the material, THD will make it right, so save what has been damaged already so they can exchange it out for you. It helps to have a receipt, but isn't absolutely required.

Oh...wait!! You said special order. It should be in the computer at the pro desk or service desk. No receipt should be needed. They can call it up in the system.

Yep, that's what the contractor has been doing, and they are working with him, but still takes 2-3 weeks to get replacements in.
