Anyone have a map or advice for me to ensure that I don't wind up in a former smoking room at YC due to daughter's asthma. Of course I'll ask them to move me immediately, but I'm hoping to just avoid the whole back and forth if possible...It really puts a damper on the first moments at the resort....

Unfortunately, I don't know....but I'd love to find out for myself! We're staying there in another week. When I made our reservations they told me I couldn't request nonsmoking since everywhere is now nonsmoking. I sure hope they don't put us in a room that still smells of smoke===my kids will FREAK ( not to mention myself) .

I don't know the room #'s, but have an idea of where they were located.... when we were there last fall, we were situated off the lobby down the corridor right near the tennis courts-non-smoking due to both my DD"s asthma.... one day we made the mistake of taking a walk through the corridors in the opposite direction of the lobby which would bring you toward the Swan/Dolphin... the hallways were literally a thick fog of cigarette smoke  :scared1: We had to find an exit ASAP because my DD's had a hard time breathing.... the whole area STUNK and was just sooo gross. That's why I'm so surprised that they can even try to pull off former smoking rooms as non-smoking ones now because it was just so nasty! :scared1: I had my TA have the CM note on the reservation the fact that both my girls have asthma and a formerly smoking room that has not been thoroughly cleaned will not do.... keeping my FX that we don't have a problem when we check in! :thumbsup2

kldmom2000--- Do you happen to remember what floor you were on when you walked through the cloud of smoke?

It was the 1st floor.... but I believe some of the other floors had smoking rooms as well. They may all just be situated on top of each other? When we stayed in the BC on our honeymoon in 1994, we were in one of the King Sico rooms I believe on the 3rd floor and it was most definitely a smoking room.... we had to keep the balcony doors open at all times because the stale stench was so bad and back then I didn't realize that you could request a non-smoking room as it was my first "vacation" at age 21 without my parents :rotfl:

Anyway, back to the YC, if you were to keep following the corridors heading toward the Swan/Dolphin on the 1st floor, that's where the smoke filled corridors were-hope that helps!

Thanks for letting me know:) . I'll be sure to try to avoid those rooms!

I had to laugh at your honeymoon story. I bet I wouldn't have thought to ask for a different room at that age either......oh, to be young and naive!!!
