Former Escape brides- invitations/rsvp

Did you have any trouble with RSVPS?
How soon should I send invites and when should I make people RSVP by?
Did you send formal invites?

With the 18 guest count, we are inviting immediate family ONLy as our "a" list, and from word of mouth we have gotten all maybes. We would REALY love to invite some "b" list people and still give them enough time to plan. I am hoping once we set the date it will weed some people out.

How hard was it to get the maybes to give you a definate answer? Any advice or tips? Did you get stuck with any lingering maybes? I ahve a feeling we are going to have a lot of those....

Yeah, good luck with that...I'm under 5 months now and I'm still getting maybe's! I plan on sending my invites the beginning of next month so I can finally get some answers!

We basically figured out exactly who was coming first. Just by verbal discussions....

So, we already knew who was coming when we sent out the official "invites" and we didnt' do RSVPs because we already knew who woud be coming....it was much easier, but I'm realizing it's not what most Escape brides do..

But whoever I talked to at DFTW was always asking me how many guests....

We did the same thing! But, all of our guests lived in Florida and were immediate family, so we knew they'd all come. I mailed the formal ones about 6 weeks before the wedding and didn't send RSVPs because we knew they were all coming.

It never hurts to hound people with phone calls and get them to commit one way or the other. Most people understand that a wedding requires exact numbers pretty far in advance, so they should totally understand your need to pin them down if they're coming or not.

Wow what a nightmare!!!!! Why don't these people understand. You have to have a decision made by the RSVP date - its so rude not to, and its now 4 weeks past!!!!!. I can't believe your MIL is on the fence about coming to your wedding. UGH. I feel so bad for you.

When we sent out our save the dates we got a lot of yess and 1 no and a lot of people who said they would really like to. I hope we don't have the same problem when we send invitations. Perhaps we should make the RSVP date a lot earlier then I was planning.

I would call down the list of maybes today and tell them you need an answer tonight. Blame it on Disney and tell them they need final counts. Tell them that all final counts are due in tomorrow morning or they will automatically be excluded from the wedding.

If people are this rude to not RSVP when your wedding is only 5 weeks away - I would tell them that they are uninvited for being so rude. UGH drives me nuts.

There are no MILs allowed on honeymoons - she should know thats a strict rule!!!!

Its a tough situation. My parents are divorced too. Honestly she should be grown up enough to realize that the day is about you and her son and that she shouldn't let her past interfear with that. If I were the FMIL then I would want to be there and make a point to my son and FDIL about how much I love them and not show that I am too scared to be in the presence of my ex. She needs to take charge and show how strong of a person she is. Skipping the wedding makes her look meak and timid.

My dad and his girlfriend are staying just a few cabins down from my mom on our cruise. So I told my mom she could bring a support group of her two best friends along. I think it will actually work out pretty well.

I just sent out an email to a few immediate family members who we want to come to our vow renewal in 2013 so they can start saving especially in this economy.
