Five years ago, I was a Cingular customer and switched to AT&T because their service and customer service was horrible. They screwed me over then, charging me $70 for some kind of reactivation mix-up plus my last regular monthly bill in order to close my account.
So then, after being a very happy AT&T customer for three years, Cingular decided to gobble up AT&T and I was not a happy camper. Within six months, the signals started to weaken as Cingular switched to their towers from AT&T towers. And again, customer service left much to be wanted.
After a year now of struggling with being with Cingular again, I switched to T-Mobile over the weekend. Problem is, I looked at my Cingular account online a few days after and it showed a charge of some $190 added to my current charges. There is no sign of what the charge is for, however, I can only assume that they are trying to charge me an early termination fee.
There is no way they are going to screw me over again for switching! My last AT&T contract was 1-year and was up in the Spring of 2005. I know it was a 1-year because I have NEVER signed a 2-year contract with any carrier. Not to mention that when I started my last contract the AT&T store didn't have my sign anything! I HATE Cingular and need to 1) warn people away from their services and 2) take suggestions on how to deal with this if they do indeed try to stick me with extra charges for switching.

Only SBC will soon be masquerading as AT&T.
I had to do a little digging (cause they sure won't give you this info) and called the office of the president in GA and I filed an FCC complaint. Well that got everything taken care of PDQ. I now have my first bill that looks like my SunCom bill.
