Formal wear sales in stores?

What time of year do stores generally put formal wear on sale, like Prom Dresses and such? We are trying to prepare early for formal night on our upcoming Disney cruise. I don't want to spend too much on dresses, but would like something nice.

Check after prom season for the stores.

Check your local thrift stores. One lady posted about her DD finding a wedding dress and pulling out the extra "fluff" and dyeing the color.

I have had good luck buying online, just know your measurements and keep looking

David's Dridal will do a $99 dress sale but I don't know when they do it.
