Hi everyone,

I'm going on my first cruise ever :) and had some questions.

For the Formal and Semi formal nights, is there anything different about the actual dinner or meals besides dressing up? I'm thinking of going to Palo or Remy for one of the nights maybe...

Also for the Animation Magic show, is it on your second Animators palate day? Thanks for any help on this. :)

Hi.

The meal for formal night tends to include lobster and have a slightly (very slightly) posher fare all in all. Semi formal again is meant to be a slightly posher one but I never see it as being.

And in general Animation Magic is the second night you are in Animators (although this can change depending on the cruise)

We always skip formal and semi formal nights in favor of Palo and Remy--

Darn! I booked Palo on formal night in hopes of only dressing up once, would hate to miss out on lobster though!!

Just off Fantasy, very few people were in formal dress. At our table formal were the men wore dress shirt and a tie with slacks, for semi formal we lost the tie.

The lobster is served on the Captain's Gala menu (usually night 6). That's typically semi-formal night (at least on the Fantasy, Magic, and Wonder). The second night is formal night, and most cruises that's a rotational menu in the MDRs.

Can't remember but I believe they hand out free cocktails in the atrium on Captain's Gala night which is formal night before each dinner. They also have different background up for nice pictures that night too since everyone is dressed up.

You can always eat two dinners on a night. Palo and MDR.

Dressing up is optional in all of the MDR. Not in Palo or Remy.

I wouldn't worry about it--these are not exactly S African lobster tails. I wouldn't miss Palo in favor of some rather ordinary lobster.

My husband would agree with you. He's a lobster lover, but on the ship the lobster is rock lobster, not Maine. And it's baked not steamed.

What hasn't been mentioned and regular DCL cruisers will know, is that when the MDRs serve Lobster, Palo has it on special that night, they pick the best, so anyone saying go to MDRs for lobster night is giving incorrect information, go to Palo for better ones.

Thanks so much!!! Now I won't worry
