First let me put my flamesuit on....I am sure this is going to get ugly.:firefight

I am a DVC member and I decided in November that I would take some of our points and stay at the Polynesian May 2nd through the 7th. Crazy I know, but this is my DSis's ultimate dream resort. I also understood that DVC is building at the GF and there may be some constuction to deal with.

I watched the threads in March when the monorail was down and how upset everyone was due to no notification.

So, yesterday I received a letter from WDW letting me know that during my trip there would be an interuption in service. I am posting this not to get the great debate started, but to see if other Monorail guests staying around the time that I am have received the same letter.

Personally, I am glad that they sent the notification, and even if I could change resorts, I would not due to the signifigance of the trip.

Here is what the letter said:

April 2012

Dear Walt Disney World Resort Guest,

We are delighted that you have selected the Walt Disney World Resort as your vacation destination!

In order for the Parks and Resorts to continue to flourish as a magical setination, it is necessary for us to make enhancements from time to time.

We would like to make you aware of planned maintenance to the Monorail system that will occur during your upcoming visit. As a result, we will be temproarily adjusting the operating schedule for the Monorail to and from the Magic Kingdom Park. This is scheduled to take place during non-peak times between late morning and early evening.

Buses and Watercraft(where applicable) will be available to transport you to destinations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Monorail service to the Magic Kingdom Park will continue to be available before and after this maintenance.

Thank you and we look forward to your upcoming stay. If you have any questions regarding your reservation, please contact your original booking agent listed on your confirmation.

Sincerely,

The Cast of the Walt Disney World Resort

So does that mean the service to epcot will be uninterrupted? I hope you enjoy your stay.

No flames from me! I'm glad to see that Disney is notifying guests of these sorts of planned maintenance issues with the monorail. Unfortunately, a lot of the problems with the monorail as of late have been UNplanned. That's where the real trouble comes in, because with unplanned breakdowns, Disney doesn't have sufficient back-up transportation at the ready.

No flames here either ....

I personally would be pleased that they gave proir notification to guests and I would say it's very fortunate that the monorail resorts (CR/BLT, POLY and GF) have other transportation options for the MK already in place. I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless.

Closetmickey....I believe from the letter it will be like it was in March. The Monorail just around the resort will be the only ones affected and not the others. I am sure this interuption is due to the DVC construction. We are going to have an awesome time...my DSis is a WDW nut just like me!

Thanks Bowbat for not flaming. I really like the boats personally, so I am not to worried for my DSis and I....but we are two adults and we don't have small kids and stroller to deal with...I am glad that they have sent the notification out.

Thanks elaw....we are going to have a great time. I have some pretty neat surprises planned. Everyone in my family wants to go with Aunt MiMi....as my neices and nephews say to their parents..."we always get prizes every day when we go with Aunt MiMi...why don't you do the same thing??!!" :rotfl2
I love being the Aunt and spoiling them silly. So in that tradition, my sister is getting prizes everyday!

Hmm, we are at bay lake that week and haven't gotten anything. I don't expect it to bother us much since we walk to mk and on our epcot day we aren't planning to be traveling mid day. I suppose it could affect our plans to visit the other monorail resorts. I'm sure we will find another way to get around but glad to get the heads up on here.

Thanks op!
