We have 2 rooms between us and my kids are in the other room from me. I was going to sign the DCL form to allow me to make decisions and take my DS off the ship, but now, the form wants a notary.

Anyone else done this? Where do I find a notary for this form? And is it really needed?

Check the HR department at your place of employment, chances are good someone there is a notary.

Dang. We’re retired. But the bank is a good idea.

This is new, though, right? I never had to do this before.

I found this suggestion list online:
  • Go to your bank! They may charge if you're not a member, but it is usually $5 or less
  • Ask work
  • UPS store
  • Post office
  • Some pharmacies (check ahead of time)
  • AAA locations
  • Law firms & offices
  • Tax prep stores
  • Real estate firms
  • Photocopy & shipping stores
  • DMV locations
There are also mobile notaries. Just google "mobile notary near me"

Are you sure you have the right form? I don't recall that requiring a notary. Just signature of the adult booked into the room with the child. You can even do it onboard, or used to.

You can also post on your local Facebook neighborhood or community page or Nextdoor.

You might find somebody in your neighborhood or close who's willing to help you out. I just notarized a couple forms for a neighbor the other day.

Oh!!! I just looked at the form I was trying to use. It's for minors who are not traveling with a parent, not for minors with a parent in another room!

Stupid mistake.

Well, that's a relief.

You are right, lanejudy, I had the wrong form. Also, I had filled out the other one (the right one) online, while checking in, but it was 1 in the morning and I forgot I'd completed it.

Thanks, all, for advice.
