My wife was looking at buying a kindle before our vacation. Before dinner it could be delivered Tuesday. After dinner when she went to place the order it wouldn’t arrive until after we left on Wednesday.

She was disappointed.

Then an hour later she found we could just get in the car and buy it from three different nearby Best Buy.

Placed an order for pickup tomorrow.

We had both totally forgot there are stores where you can buy electronic stuff and everything doesn’t have to be delivered by an Amazon truck.

I might need an intervention.

I did that not too long ago as well. Went on Amazon looking for something and it was going to be a week or so before it would arrive. Didn’t even dawn on me it was something I could just go to Walmart to pick up until later

And you don't have to use a credit card or payment service, you can pay cash! LOL>

That's true....for now at least. I hope it stays that way.

electronics are something we almost entirely buy locally vs. Amazon with the exception of the odd cable or connector. I like to have a little hands on time with an item or view it in operation before buying. we had a very positive in the last year when we needed to replace a television. had passed by the local 'video only' many times and decided to give it a look-see. WOW, it felt like we were transported back in time to when sales staff knew the products inside out and upside down. very patiently showing us different models/answering our question/addressing our specific needs. sooooooooooooooo much better than the other electronics place where you are simply pointed in the direction of the display models.

Sure we could drive to Target or Best Buy but that means trying to navigate and find a spot in a 10 story parking structure. I'll pass. At least for now the parking is free.

Was there a new game or other special thing being released last Friday, May 30? I went to my local PetSmart and the Best Buy next door had a line of perhaps 25 people waiting outside about 9am.

I asked the cashier at PetSmart but she didn’t know.

People next door work at home, and other than to take their 5 year old to and from daycare I don't think they ever leave the house.
6 am some mornings, Amazon arrives. 8 am every morning a deliver person shows up with a McDonalds bag. At noon, another delivery person arrives with a Taco Bell bag. They get groceries delivered, including the time they were misdelivered to my house. No idea how many times their house has been photographed by a delivery person dropping something off. Thursday their gardener comes and Saturday their cleaning lady.

I'm the opposite. I will always check if I can buy something in a physical store before I resort to shopping online.

reminds me of what I realize now was a very prophetic movie back in '86- 'inside out' (no relation to pixar's) starring elliott gould.

Gosh that sounds like an unhealthy lifestyle. Sad.

How much do you notice overall

I a lot of online ordering instead of in person myself... especially when doing work from home.

If I am "in office" days, I will swing by Meijer since I am already out, and that is fine. However, if I am WFH I just do not want to get out and fight traffic for it. It is just not worth it for me.

I cannot remember the last time I have been in a Best Buy. I always avoided that place even in its heyday. It is (or was at least) too loud and too much going on. Total sensory overload!

I know w/Walmart at least, you cannot trust the website. A couple years ago, can't even remember what I was looking for but I used that filter for which stores had something in stock. Yea that didn't work. I made a special trip to another store further away, only to find they did NOT have what it was I was looking for. On my way home, I stopped at the one closest to me, and they were the ones that DID have it :sad2:

His garage is full of gym equipment.......weights......treadmill.....etc and it gets used daily. And he is a BMXer, something I did not know adults in their mid to late 30s did, and competes every weekend. His wife says they are a "mixed marriage". He eats nothing but red meat, has frozen steaks delivered from some fancy meat place....(NOT Omaha Steaks). She is vegetarian.
So other than all the McDonalds an Taco Bell being delivered, they seem to be very active and athletic people. They just don't go out to shop.

You do seem to know an awful lot about your neighbors.

Dead end street with an active Neighborhood Watch program. My neighbors know my routines too.

EDIT: And one of the few houses on my street without security cameras that are recording 24/7. I'm a dinosaur. My e-mail is full of videos from my neighbors cameras every time a homeless person walks down the street at 3 am, or something out of the ordinary.
