Forgot to bank

We've been DVC members for a few years. I have never needed to bank leftover points into the next year because we have always had something booked. For various reasons (being busy in life, I guess) I forgot to bank our 128 points we had left this year. Is there anything I can do, or are they lost forever? Use year is Sept, if that helps.

Ouch. I hope someone here has an idea. I bank my points every year even when I plan to use them because there is no downside to doing so.

There is supposed to be a "one time forgiveness" time when they allow you to bank your points after the deadline. Ask for it, ask for a supervisor if you have to.

I've read many instances of people calling and explaining their sob story about forgetting with the result that MS makes a one-time (meaning once in your lifetime) exception to the banking rule. It's worth a try, but do it NOW.

Thanks everyone, I will! I do have a sob story, my mother has been in the hosp. for several months and I just wasn't thinking of DVC! I will try to plead my case. I feel like such a rookie.

Good luck! If you use a calender system at work (like Outlook) you might want to make yourself a yearly reminder to bank your points shortly after your new use year. It only takes a second now that you can do it online. Make yourself another event to check it about a week later since one year 18 of my points got swallowed even though I was sure I banked them.

BTW, in case there was any misunderstanding, I didn't mean you didn't have a very good reason for forgetting to bank...just that people often characterize their stories to MS as "sob stories." Good luck!

I think you can use them thru RCI for a vacation 2 years out.

I got that, but thanks for the clarification. You made me realize I do actually have a sob story and I might want to use it! LOL!

Can you do this transaction within the last 4 months of your UY? I thought this fell into the Rules of 4... But I am new to this whole thing. It's a lot to remember at the beginning...

I don't think it apply's to RCI but check with MS.

I have never done so, but I believe that you can rent or transfer them out. Since you are really close to the end of your use year, you can discount them and recoup some cash (for future MFs).

I had this happen to me this year. I was very busy and had a lot on my mind. I missed my deadline to bank and we were planning a big vacation next year. I called member services and they banked my points without a problem. It was the first time it ever happened to me. I would think that you should not have a problem either. Good luck

I also had this happen to me. I had been borrowing for so many years after we took a cruise that I didn't realize I had points. Then I had a 2nd set of twins and got very behind on keeping up with things. I didn't really know how the new banking worked since I never used it. Anyway they banked my points for me. Let us know if what happens.
