Forgot our magic bands!

Even the MB's need an active battery to pick up non-tap photos.
That can be subject to debate.
Many cases have shown that having only the "near-field" RFID chip working (dead battery on the far-field") can activate the on-ride photo sensors (or at least some of them.)

If your phone is logged into MDX with Bluetooth enabled and MDX allowed to use it, your phone can auto link ride photos.
Just occurred to me to add to this - on our March and June visits we found the photo linking to be poor. We received several photos that were not ours and then didn't get our photos from the same rides. This was despite my husband wearing a MB puck on a lanyard and my having MDE on my phone connected to Bluetooth. We had to email PhotoPass after we got home, asking them to find our photos, and on one ride I had completely forgotten what time of day we rode, which delayed PP finding it. So if photos that aren't yours pop up in your MDE, make a note of which date and time you actually rode, so you can let the PP folks know when you email about your missing photos.

I went in May and didn’t receive some of my ride photos, but I sometimes snapped a picture of the photo screens. After the trip when I looked at those snapshots on my phone, on at least two occasions someone else in my photo wasn’t wearing a mask so that explained some of them not showing up in my account.

Yeah, that wasn’t the problem with our photos, the system just matched the wrong ones to our accounts. PhotoPass CMs found them for us, it was just a matter of sending the email from the PP website and then answering an email from them when it turned out I misremembered what time it was when we rode RnR.
