forgive me...i'm new to my points

hi guys! DH and i are trying to see what we can do twoards a trip to WDW summer of 2003 with his kids...so i thought that i would try this my points thing...

i've followed all of the instructions and activated my account...i did enter a sweepstakes thing and it said that i earned 30 points. well, when will i see those points on my account summary?

forgive me if the answer is posted elsewhere...i haven't quit figured this thing out yet!!

i'm grateful for any help i can get!! thanks!!

You should see them pop up in your account tomorrow. But, I have found Mypoints very slow the last couple of weeks and sometimes it takes a few days.

I just started in October and already have 13,000 points!!
I think you'll find it addictive.

The amount of time always depends on the vendor. Sometimes you'll get your points within 24 hours, sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks, and sometimes, not at all. That's when you send an email to Customer Care and you'll usually be credited within 5 days. Always wait 30 days before you request missing points, else they'll tell you to wait 30 days and get back to them.

Its a good idea to keep a pad of paper by the computer to jot down your points. I keep a list on 3x5 post it pad. I write down the vendor, the # points due, and the date of the transaction. I also don't delete any My Points related email, until I'm sure I've been credited.

[Edited to Add] Also, be sure to take a good look at the screen on anything you do for My Points, just to be sure you aren't missing out on your points. For example, with Tupperware you need to click on a link to earn your points after a purchase. After that, a little blue box will pop up telling you how many points you've earned. Not many require this, but its always a good idea to look anyway.

like i've said...i'm new to this whole points thing and i'm not sure exactly how many i'll be able to accumulate! i don't shop much online...but i suppose that i could start. are there really that many offers out there to help me accumulate points without having to spend any money?

...this trip would be VERY important...and if we can pull it off...it'll be a miracle...

I thought the AOL offer was a good deal. I signed up and downloaded the software, but never installed it. They give you 30 days to cancel, but your points will show up in 20 days. As soon as I saw my points in my account, I called AOL and canceled. No problems, no cost.

Go to your account in Mypoints and sign up for all the offers by email. I get about 10 emails a day and even if I just visit the site, that's 50 points a day. Some are worth 10 points to visit. If you get points to sign up for a contest, do it, even if you don't want the prize. I've signed up for 3 Fisher Price contests and got over 250 points and I don't have any kids!!
You don't always have to spend a lot of money when you shop online either. The current Tupperware offer is for 800 points and I spent $5 on these huge gift bags. I also did the Foxstore offer for 1000 points and only had to spend $8.
This board is a GREAT place for pointing out the special offers!
Oh yeah, also download MyPoints Alert. It will give you 25 points and it will automatically route you thru mypoints when you're shopping at a mypoints partner. Look farther down for my post about Mypoints alert, it's more than worth it!
