Has anyone stored their personal wheelchair at the rental place while using the park scooter? Taking my own power chair is not doable, and I will be usinf my own personal wheelchair from the bus to the park entrance when I am with my friends, and Dan.

How would the people working there know that it's my own personal wheelchair when I have to leave it there while renting the scooter? It's a Quickie 2 manual wheelchair, so it doesn't look like a standard park wheelchair. Would they put my name on it somehow? I was talking with one of my friends who used a park scooter when she went on her trip to Disney World, and she said that the people had to keep her driver's license to make sure that she would be the one to bring the scooter back when she's done with it.

Getting super excited now. Only two days to go until my trip.

Why not rent one from a Disney approved outside vendor? It will be cheaper and they will deliver it to your hotel.

I do recall reading a post a while ago that someone left a manual wheelchair at the ECV rental in-park location. So yes, I would say it is possible to do. I assume they tag it somehow, though in all honestly I would do that myself first just to be safe.

As PP indicated, off-site ECV rental will be much less expensive than in-park rentals.

I have left my rollator with the scooter rental people and picked it back up when I returned the ecv at the end of the day. They did put my name on the rollator before they took it. When I returned the ecv I mentioned they were holding my rollator, gave my name and they brought it right out to me.

I usually use a luggage tag on my personal wheelchair. I list my last name,resort and cell phone#.

I've done that before, and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I rented a Jazzy power chair from what was then Scootaround. I don't know if they changed their name, or they went out of business because I don't see them mentioned on here anymore, and the first one they sent me fit me OK. But, the seat was ripped to shreds at the corners. I didn't mind that except the battery seemed like it was weak, and wouldn't hold a charge for very long.

The second one they brought wasn't much better. The battery was weak in it too, and wouldn't hold a charge for very long.

I know it's going to be expensive to rent a park scooter for the number of days I am there. But, it'll have to be doable because Dan, and I will be with our friends, and my best friend Lorrie will have to have her mom help her drive her power chair through the crowds since we'll be at the parks during the MLK holiday. It would be too hard for Dan to push me around because he has a hard time reacting to people who suddenly dart out in front of us when he is pushing me, or people who stop in front of us. I know the parks will be fairly crowded then. I hope I'll be able to manage driving the park scooter OK since it won't be like driving my own power wheelchair at home.

But, I have driven a scooter like the park scooters around before. So, it won't be so new to me.

You can rent a scooter, not a power chair, from an off site company. It would be much cheaper and then you wouldn't have to worry about your chair.

Apple Scooters has both scooters and powerchairs. I haven't rented a scooter from them, but I've rented powerchairs from them twice with decent experiences. One I did have problems with, but I called and they came and replaced it as quickly as they could (it was out of hours when I called, but I still had the replacement within an hour). The replacement worked well.

I've rented from Scootaround (again, a powerchair) in San Francisco and I didn't find them nearly as good as Apple is near WDW. Scootaround was also substantially more expensive, for what it's worth.

I've rented power chairs from Apple several times. Few problems were address quickly. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Sorry but why can't you take your own power wheelchair? You're talking about using Disney buses for hotel-to-park transport. They can easily handle your powerchair and your friend's.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to just have your own powered transport? Then no one has to help push you anywhere and can be free to help your friend.

We routinely travel with three wheeled devices (two ECVs and my powerchair). Sometimes we have 4 in the group. At most we may have to split up on the buses assuming we get ones that only take 2 wheelies (some take 3 and some take 4). But we pick a meeting place in the parks to regroup and tour.

We have stored broken scooters at the rental places. Like someone said, they tag it with your name and store it for later pickup. No problems.
