and I LOVE it. I traded in my PS2 and got $100 off, and then traded my XBOX and some games and got even more $$ to put towards games and peripherals.
The DVD quality puts my PS2 to shame, even on regular discs. Blu Ray discs are AMAZING. I watched Sleepy Hollow and it was so cool. I've already played Sonic and Resistance: Fall of Man. Sonic is ok, has camera issues and the load times are a bit long, but Resistance is outstanding. Even my PS2 games like Kingdom Hearts look and perform better on this thing.
The only downside was how long it took to get the online part set up, but that's kind of par for the course. Now that I am set up, I can download PS1 games, and connect my PSP and download games for that as well.

I know the cost is pretty prohibitive for a lot of people, especially families-but Uncle Sam was good to me this year. ;)

With no disrespect to your choice, but no way, no how, will anybody take our Wii away! My wife has ALWAYS hated video games. She plays the Wii. The Wii is awsome for my kids, too. And I am really enjoying it myself.....

I will say, though, that I prefer a PC for gaming for myself..

Hope you enjoy your PS3! :thumbsup2

I think your wife is the really the target audience for the Wii. I think Nintendo was trying to build a family machine that would get people who hated video games to love them. Me, I've loved video games since I got my first Atari back in the day. I had a Nintendo (remember the first Mario and Duck Hunt?) and then I got a Sega Genesis, a PS1 and a PS2. When the XBOX came out I picked that up and then a PSP. The PS2 was really my favorite, which is probably why I'm enjoying the PS3 so much.

at our Best Buy yesterday they had a floor display built out of unsold PS3's. but we can't find a Wii anywhere. I hate to credit MS, but the Xbox 360 is my choice for console gaming.

and we really want to get our hands on a Wii.

We saw the same thing in an Atlanta area BB yesterday. There must have been a couple dozen PS3's. No Wii to be found.

Honestly, I'd only take a PS3 if I won it. LOL The price is ridiculous! I think what makes me not want it though is no games I want to play. :confused3 I think anyone who can afford a PS3 rocks, and I'd love to play one at least once, but I think we'll keep our Wii! :yay:

You say forget about the Wii..because you don't have one.:rotfl: They're awesome!

Frankly if you are a "gamer" you will have ALL systems, so I don't believe you.:lmao:

Why do you feel the need to slam the Wii?...:confused3
I will get the PS3 when Final Fantasy 13 comes out.

For the record, graphics do not excite me. It is the GAME I like...not the system.

TMM.... I have literally had, I think every single system ( console ) ever made except for Turbographix, and Neo Geo..... I have ZERO desire for a PS3... If I were to have one, it would only be for Blue Ray, which quite honestly, means NOTHING to me.....

I don't think the OP was slamming the Wii... More like rallying behind the one they purchased.

that's exactly where Sony dropped the ball and Nintendo stayed the course. (except the Gamecube) I've played with PS 3's in stores and the graphics are nice.

I really want to swing a golf club or play tennis with the Wii, that's innovative.

My DD won a PS3 from a KFC contest. So far they shipped the two games that are part of the prize, "Call of Duty" and "Ultimate Alliance" but we're still waiting for the game itself and the 32" LCD TV that's included in the prize package.

The funny part is, she has no interest in video game systems, but is looking forward to getting that TV. Meanwhile, my other DD and her husband as well as my DS can't wait for the game to arrive. They'll just have to wait a bit longer since we're letting my cousin's son borrow it when it gets here. He's recovering from a very serious eye injury and needs some cheering up.

Thanks for the review!!:thumbsup2

I bought my kids the Wii for Christmas and am asking my hubby to buy ME the PS3 for my birthday next month.:) I can't wait to sit up all night playing it on March 12....I am such a nerd!

Probably right....I would only get the PS3 for "Final Fantasy 13"...sick huh?:lmao:
I just can't pay that kind of $$$ for just the game system.

Although it I won it or got it cheaper, I would buy it. It probably is a nice system.

The only appeal the ps3 has is the blue ray disc player to me. It is kinda expensive but if I really wanted it I would buy it I just don't. Stores here can't even give them away they are everywhere. Huge stacks of them just sitting there with no interest! The wii on the other hand is awesome :thumbsup2

I'm definately NOT bashing the Wii. From what I've seen it's a fantastic system that will bring LOTS of new fans to gaming as entertainment. I'd be standing in line for one if I had kids, the movement aspect of it is excellent!

I titled the thread this way because I had been looking for a Wii, and some folks on the CB were helping me out. I wanted them to know I was off the hunt since I got this.

If I didn't have the trade ins and the extra cash from the tax refund I wouldn't have bought this. The price is extremely high and I can understand why they're sitting in the stores.

I'm a Playstation fan-loved my PS1 and my PS2. I even have a PSP, which is the minority portable system. I had a Nintendo DS, but I ended up giving it to my niece because I just wasn't playing it. Once I got over the Mario nostalga, I just wasn't interested anymore. It's a great system, and I have lots of friends that love their DS, but it's not for me.

Personally the only thing keeping me from getting a PS3 is the HD-DVD angle. I want to see how this Blue Ray vs. HD-DVD thing plays out before I commit to the PS3. I also want to see some improvement in the quality fo the Blue Ray discs themselves. Some have got really bad reviews and I've read about issues with the software at the authoring level.

I heard the decision between the Blue Ray vs. HD DVD will be decided by which one the porn industry chooses! And, I have to agree. It's the old battle of Beta vs. VHS!

As a person that has been playing video games pretty much since day 1, we chose the 360 and added a Wii. May end up getting a PS3 later on if price drops and/or there is a must have release. We also go the HD-DVD add on for the 360.

I think we'll see a PS3 price drop sooner rather than later, even in Japan I've heard they're not selling very many
