Forget Mayan Calender 2012 prediction...

I assume these billboards would all naturally fall along the Bible belt.

I haven't seen any in WI. I guess we are all sticking around.

End of times LOL. Right the end of the world has been coming since forever. Oh no Nostradamus! El nino.. THE RAPUTRE IS UPON US. Y2K Such baloney!
http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl2.htm <-- failed end of days predictions.

Hmm Don't we all have a comet to catch who's got some koolaid.

No really okay seriously underneath one of stonehenge's stones says it on the bottom of one of those stones. You can't see it but one day there was this earth quake and a fish spoke. It was crazy.

NO NO better yet lets count x,y,z countless spiritual leaders who say.. oh yah god. Yah totally coming in like.. ooh.. 3000 wait wait.. 2987 light years. What light years is a measurement not a time? Hmm I mean uh well I can’t say google cuz that’s web page. What’s after google? Well no spirits have spoken to me and they said the end of times is coming in apple. Apple? Yes apple? What’s apple? Don’t ask me I'm just the messenger.

Guys the Davinci Code!

I was raised in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. As soon as I was able I ran away from all organized religion very very quickly. But these (as referenced in the above link) are the pillars of my old Faith - and the reason I always giggle at end-of-time prophecies.

1843-MAR-21: William Miller, founder of the Millerite movement, predicted that Jesus would come on this date. A very large number of Christians accepted his prophecy.

1844-OCT-22: When Jesus did not return, Miller predicted this new date. In an event which is now called "The Great Disappointment," many Christians sold their property and possessions, quit their jobs and prepared themselves for the second coming. Nothing happened; the day came and went without incident.

1850: Ellen White, founder of the Seven Day Adventists movement, made many predictions of the timing of the end of the world. All failed. On 1850-JUN-27 she prophesied that only a few months remained before the end. She wrote: "My accompanying angel said, 'Time is almost finished. Get ready, get ready, get ready.' ...now time is almost finished...and what we have been years learning, they will have to learn in a few months."

1856 or later: At Ellen White's last prediction, she said that she was shown in a vision the fate of believers who attended the 1856 SDA conference. She wrote "I was shown the company present at the Conference. Said the angel: 'Some food for worms, some subjects of the seven last plagues, some will be alive and remain upon the earth to be translated at the coming of Jesus." That is, some of the attendees would die of normal diseases; some would die from plagues at the last days, others would still be alive when Jesus came. "By the early 1900s all those who attended the conference had passed away, leaving the Church with the dilemma of trying to figure out how to explain away such a prominent prophetic failure."

I always get a chuckle out of the mental picture of a bunch of devout adventists selling everything they own, going out sitting in their fields, and staring heavenwards...waiting....waiting...waiting... "Ok, Ellen, now what do we do..? He isn't coming this time either..." :rotfl:

Well when I left work yesterday I saw at least 50-60 of these people on the streets handing out flyers and carrying big signs proclaiming the end. There was even a huge truck with billboards plastered on both sides which was playing the sound of a shofar (sp?) to proclaim the end. Of course it also announced the Family Radio website too. ;) So if this is their job, to go out and save the sinners why are they only coming out now? If they are truly working their beliefs why aren't they on the streets, en masse, each and every day? Me thinks if I stop and ask a few I just might find out they they've been recruited by Family Radio and paid a small pittence to stand on the streets and advertise for them. ;)

Reminds me of Linus waiting in the field all night for The Great Pumpkin.

The one I saw was pretty much "right" across the river from WI so they are moving your way :lmao:

I know wikipedia isn't the end all/be all, but they've got some interesting things there relating to Family Radio and the people who run it, specifically under teachings, i.e., anyone who belongs to a church will NOT be saved. :rolleyes1

Soooooooo......what if they are right :rolleyes1

If they're right about the Rapture, I'll be left behind. And honestly, if they're right, I'd rather me left behind. Not my kind of people. I don't react well to Henny Penny the sky is falling. ;) I distanced myself from my religion years ago because the whole fire and brimstone, you're not worthy thing just wasn't for me. But being the hypocrite I am, I did send my daughter to Catholic grammar school. I felt I should at least offer her the opportunity to make an informed decision for herself.

If we join a church this weekend is that enough time? Lol

There's an 'end of the world' date every year......usually never with actual proof :confused3, which is why I never give notice to them anymore.

I buy into every single one and party like no other until I feel I've safely passed the dooms day event! Then, I have to look for the next one and start all over.

Ya but isn't that just a typical mew years eve. Lol

they aren't... that's the whole damn point. Do I need to speak in tongues for you to understand. lfdkaghakd a peanut butter mushroom.

One retired Transit worker in NYC has spent $140,000 personally on advertisements on NY subways and buses! It's very sad...
I can only imagine how much money has been wasted on this...

Someone else said that they hope these fools who gave everything away don't kill themselves and their children on the 22nd....

I live in NYC and this billboard is at a major intersection, so I guess there's no excuse for us NYers to not heed the warning!:scared1:

So passing judgment/the Rapture will only take 1-1/2 hours (from 8:30-10 p.m.)? :rotfl2:

I really hope it happens really late on the 21st, my daughter is getting married on 5/21/11 at 5:00 pm on the beach in Jamaica. She looks so beautiful in her dress :bride: that I want everyone to see it!!!

Don't worry, lol. It is something put out by FamilyRadio.com (which I know nothing about, BTW) but it is some sort of ploy to get people to listen to their message or something. The Bible tells us NO ONE knows the time or day of the Second Coming of Christ.

I think they think they have some sort of formula to do the calculations to get this date. Uh, no. lol Oh, I see they are saying it is 7,000 years since God destroyed the world with flood (Noah), lol. Okey-dokey, then.

I'd plan on paying the house payment that month. :) But, one could plan a party for the night before if one would like. :)

Oh my! I just went to their website and looked at their homepage. I stay away from doom and gloom like this, while I believe there will be a Second Coming someday, I do not pretend to know when or believe anyone (or website) can tell us when either. I think this site is forgetting the Bible says "He will come as a thief in the night." No one knows when a thief is showing up, they don't usually call and tell you. ;)

Absolutely :thumbsup2
