You might be fine. Not everyone gets carded.(seems to be sometimes, all the time, or no time) It would be easier to just keep your passport with you when you know that you will want to buy a drink for just in case.
You're probably more likely to get carded in the world showcase because: 1.) most of the employees are short term and 2.) most of them will have to go back home if they lose their jobs.
Carmelhp, I was questioning the rational of carding 50 and 60 year olds. I was taken off guard when my daughter was asked for her passport to prove her age and now, I get that it is a state law.
Wherever I've lived in the US if you are carded (and anyone CAN be carded) and you don't have ID, you won't be served. If my 97 year old neighbor was asked for ID and if he didn't have it, he's not getting his drink.

Exactly. Once they ask for ID, there is no acceptable excuse for not providing it. They may have the flexibility to assume up front, but after they question your age, they can't legally back off and assume you're old enough.
So just to make sure, you do not need a second form of ID other then the copy of your passport? The passport is enough to be served? I don't drive you see, so my passport is the only form is identification I have.
The law says "passport," not a copy. Apparently, WDW is willing to accept a copy if you have another form of ID. The WDW requirements are reported as accepting:
US State drivers license
US Military ID
Original Passport (not a copy)
Copy of a Passport along with a government issued photo ID that includes date of birth

If you have a passport card and they don't accept it because it't not a book (for whatever stupid reason), it's easy enough to just photoshop a passport and use that as your "copy". It may nor may not be technically legal, but it's a workable solution for irritating rules. Just an option.

That depends on where you fall on the idea of breaking international laws and all. Presenting a fake copy even if you have a passport card can get you in a ton of trouble if caught.

Interesting. I have never been carded at WDW. My DW has been. I am 35 and she is 31 (a very young looking 31). Actually a CM at the Hoop Dee Do a couple of years ago thought she was using a fake ID when she was 29. She had her passport card (land and sea travel) and her valid state of Indiana drivers license and the CM made multiple comments that my wife wasn't really 29 even though she had multiple forms of ID's with all of the matching information. This same CM did not check my ID and allowed me to order whatever I wanted which I thought was interesting.
We have done the "around the world" on all of our last 5 trips (soon to be 6) and neither of us have been carded around the WS.
