What do you want me to say? This is Catalan ( a language spoken in the North East region of Spain, similar to French and Italian. )

Bubie, I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. My entire family speaks Catalan , I have been bi-lingual since the moment I was born , Spanish and Catalan , although during the dictatorship years we were not allowed to speak Catalan outside of the home until 1975 when Francisco Franco ( the dictator ) did the best thing he ever did in his life, die!
You are absolutely right, Euskera is very difficult, I only know a couple of words, but it's very very different from any other language. Good luck in your adventure though, I have always been fascinated about different languages.

Kanga, Eskerrik asko (thanks) for answering, I'm amazed by the different languages spoken in Spain, specially after getting hooked on "Operacion Triunfo" (a spanish reality tv show)... the winner (Ainhoa) is from Bizkaia and I just got hooked by the whole basque culture, fascinating.
And about Franco, you're absolutely right... my grandfather had to leave Spain because of him.

I speak French. Not fluently, but pretty close to it.

Tiggerlover, I might be asking you for help later this year! I'm taking Italian right now as a correspondence course through my school. I have to have a semester of Italian and Spanish each for my French degree. I finished Spanish, but didn't get around to Italian until this year.
