Foreign Currency for Shipboard Account?

Long story short, I return from my anniversary trip to Ireland a mere 8 hours before my flight to Florida to go on my annual fall cruise with friends. I’m sure I’ll have some amount (hopefully minimal) of pounds & euros left. I think I can take that to Guest Services on the ship to add to my onboard account. How do they calculate exchange rates? Are there fees associated? Seems like this would make more sense than bringing the foreign currency to the Travelex booths at the airport which charge a percentage to exchange. Our credit union does not exchange foreign currency so that’s not an option either.

I'm not sure a cruise that's not cruising in an area that Euros & pounds are being used would use them. The onboard account is run in US dollars.

Oh wait! Just reading that maybe WDW resort concierge desks &/or guest relations will convert back to USDs. I’ll be staying in a Cascade Cabin at WL the night before the cruise. Maybe this is an option!

I have been on many European cruises and they do accept currency other than USA $, you can go to guest services. Note it's at a " corporate rate" not current exchange rates and that is typically worse than the banks or currency exchange booths.

If it's a minimal amount, and of the currencies you mention (rather than, say, Russian rubles), I'd just hang on to it and use it during my next trip. It's nice to have a few GBPs or Euros upon arrival.

If you're cruise includes a stop at St. Martin, the French side of the island takes Euro. We actually used up some left-over Euro there in the market in Marigot one cruise.

Supposed to go to Tortola but that may still get changed to St. Marteen. Good to know.
