Thinking of getting a Ford Edge, does anyone have one? Any thoughts?

Thanks

I have one and love it (2008) Rides great, gets good mileage traveling. I only get about 14 mpg locally.

Having said that, we are considering going back to an Explorer. I really hate to give up the Edge, but I want something with a 3rd row again. We have 3 dds and as they get older we need more space.

My dad has the Edge and loves it!!! When we went looking for a new car last year we looked at it and it wasn't enough room for us. So we got the Ford Flex and it is fabulous!! I love my car! It has the 3rd row so it seats 7. Has plenty of room for grocerys and all the kids stuff too. I have 3 boys 15, 13 and 10. The seats fold down for extra room. It really is a great car.

Hope that helps!

I am on my 2nd Edge. I had a 2007 for 3 1/2 years, which I traded in on a 2010 last summer. I guess you can tell by that I love it!!!!!!!!!!! It rides sooooon nice and both the front and back seats are very comfortable. Once in awhile, I miss my seating for 7, but some times it's better (when you have someone you don't want to ride with LOL). My new one has the navigation/Sync/voice system, with a built in harddrive for music, I LOVE it!!!

I have a 2008, love it ! It rides great and since we're only a family of 3 we have plenty of room.

Thanks so much for the replies. Going to try and make a deal on one tonight.

Wish me luck!

I was trying to decide between the Edge and Escape a few months ago. I ended up going with the Escape as I didn't like the storage design on the Edge, other than that I would have probably gone with it.

We have a 2009 Edge that we bought in 2010 right before the 2011s came out. LOVE LOVE LOVE it for all of the reasons mentioned above :)

I have a 2008 Edge. In my overall mix of driving I get 21mpg, and that is with an ECV lift and ECV hanging off the back. This adds about 325 pounds and kills any streamlining.

It is very easy to handle. I got the Sirius Radio option; one thing I really like about the audio system is I can set it so the faster I go the louder it gets; this lets me hear the music at highway speeds but does not blast me out when stopped.

I have leg problems and find it is extremely easy to get both in and out; I just sit on the seat and swivel myself in; to get out I just swivel and slide off the seat and my toes touch the ground just as I am off the seat.

We considered it when we bought our Sorento a few months ago. I *love* the look of the car. The kickers for us were the lack of a 3rd row (not that we technically need it right now) and, the biggie for me, was the comfort in the 2nd row. DH and I are tall (he is, especially) and I felt like my knees were up my nose while I was sitting back there! We're still at the point where one of us sits with DS in the back all the time, and it just would not have been comfortable. Maybe if you'll be using the back for kids that are still smallish, it would be fine. I rode in a coworker's Edge on about a 1.5 hr trip a few weeks ago, and found I still was uncomfortable in the back.

We also like the Edge. We don't own one, but have rented one the last 3 rentals we've had in WDW. We have a Ford Explorer and it's our 4th one (or 5th) we've had since they were sold back when. While we love our Explorer (w/3rd row seat) we are just 2 empty nesters. We do like the Edge, but lean to the Escape because we need the 4WD here in mountain country -- I think the Edge is only AWD (?). We have 2 Ford trucks (F350 and a dump truck), so we are OK with moving bigger things if we get something smaller like the Edge.

If you haven't bought one yet, I highly recommend Edmunds.com. It will give a really good idea of what you should pay so as to not get ripped off by your dealer! Good Luck new cars are so much fun!

We rented a Chev Traverse on our last Disneyland trip and DH and I both loved it! Lots of room but still sporty and super comfortabe. My DH has rented an edge before and he was impressed with its zippiness but not the fuel economy.

We have almost decided that an Edge will be our next vehicle purchase. Right now I am driving the tires off of our 2003 Expedition, and with gas prices I am ready to get a smaller SUV. I was comparing it with the new Explorer though, and why are the prices of the Edge so close to the Explorer? That is the only downside for me, the Edge's I've priced are between $26k and $32k.

Love, love, love my 2010 Edge!!!

We downsized from a 7 passenger Durango (which I loved too, but it was too big) and I worried about missing that 3rd row seating....not!

I love my sporty Edge! Great ride, awesome stereo (satellite radio, 6 cd changer, Sync), cool (huge!!) moon roof!!

Good luck with your purchase! We got a nice deal in May 2010, 'cuz they were trying to move them to make room for the 2011's.

We have two! :thumbsup2

DS took our 2007 to college so we bought a 2010 when he left. I don't agree with the poster who said the backseat was uncomfortable.... comfort and room back there is what sold us on this car. We are all over 6' tall - Our two sons (6'3" and 6'7") rode in the back seat regularly with no complaints.

We run nearly all highway miles and get around 23-25 mpg.

We are anxious to take a look at the new Explorer, but really don't need another new car right now. :confused3
