The only "blurry" part of the FJ movies I saw was the last screen (with all the teachers.) Is it possible that the last screen was supposed to look 3D and it didn't work?

Another complaint I heard (which I think is dumb) is that the story of FJ makes no sense, just going from one scare to the next.

My DD, Dniece and I rode it multiple times during our stay in August.
We loved it:lovestruc

I thought it was amazing. I'll tell you another fantastic ride we recently tried: Manta! That's as close as I've ever come to feeling like I was flying.

Again, no offense taken, but I must say... People post threads like mine on the DIS all the time and I have never had so many responses like this. Right now there is a similar thread on the Disney "theme parks and attraction stratagies" forum called "Is TSM worth the hype?". No one seems to feel that is out of place. I did not mean to crinkle so many eyebrows, but if the poll option is not for polling people on their opinions about rides, attractions, etc. what on earth is it for?:confused3

Yeah, it was just the wording.

And the Phantom Menace part confused me. I was dating an extreme SW fan at the time, and he was so excited for the movie, and retained his excitement through the movie (I went with him), but after the movie he was really disappointed. There was no lying, or covering things up, and that goes for all my friends who were SW fans and wanted to love it. So I got confused by how you said that about PM...everyone I knew at the time knew that Anakin was miscast (though now I disagree, except for his apparent relative age to Natalie Portman), JarJar's unfortunate character, etc etc...so that comparison really threw me, and ended up making the question feel far more negative than "is TSM worth the hype".

But I still voted last night as soon as I saw the thread. :) (haven't visited yet)

I didn't think the Phantom Menace sucked, either. ;)

:) I did when I first saw it, avoided it for years, and then DS got into it. I've now see it approx 15 times, if not more, and I like it now.

But I also thoroughly enjoy Mamma Mia, even Pierce's singing, so it's possible that my mind has turned to jelly after repeated viewings. :upsidedow

I think for me, it's all about the amazing technology they utilized. It's such a smooth and interesting ride. Very comfortable. I think the ride is brilliant!

My opinion is as a person who really is not a Harry Potter fan at all. I have nothing against it, it just isn't my personal cup of tea. I've not read the books; I have seen all the films, but that's more because I'm something of a film buff. So I really have no prejudice towards Harry Potter.

So, coming from that perspective, I am truly blown away both by the FJ ride, and the AMAZING sets that make up WWoHP. I've never experienced anything like this ride before, and having been an AP holder for the Orlando area parks for most of the last 13 years, it's pretty hard to impress me. I think the ride is very well executed, thrilling, scary (in a good way), and just thoroughly fun. I feel Universal has always been tops when it comes to sets, and Hogsmeade represents some of the best work they have ever done.

I hope you enjoy your time and experience here!! :)

Just there 3 weeks ago and I have an appreciation for the movies (I wait for the DVD), but have not read any of the books.

The "park" is breath taking -- even on a hot day you feel "cooler" with all the snow covered houses and stone . The castle looks massive and realy awe inspiring.

The best part about the FJ is the wait in the castle - so much to see in there that people would stand there and let people pass by so that they could watch what was going on.

The ride itself is a simulator / screen ride mixed in with some 'real' props.

The movie is a bit blurry in spots - but that could be because you are so close to the screen. But not too much to ruin it for you.

I agree 100% with the "dementors on a stick" looking cheap. These things looked like what the guy down the block from me puts on his shrubs for halloween. It is a bit corny.

Overall it does a good job and is a fun ride (not a thrill ride), but is a fantastic experience if you factor in the castle, movie ride, and animatronic part of the ride.

Don't think that this is a life changing ride - and that the technology they are using is state of the art. Walk in there expecting to have a good time and experience the world of Potter and you will not be disappointed.

It is a life-changing experience. Until the Wizarding World opened its doors, we muggles have only hoped to see what it would be like. Now we can walk into Hogwarts/Hogsmeade and be among wizards! :wizard:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

But in all seriousness, it's a great ride, and lots of fun. The story of the ride is supposed to be confusing. But it works.

I voted yes. But, I am probably not the best judge as I was so scared my eyes were closed through most of it, I cried after and I will probably never ride it again. HOWEVER, DH, DS14 and DS11 all thought it was a great ride and rode it multiple times. DS11 puts it in his top 3 and DH says it was his favorite ride at IOA.

ask me in 9 days:banana:

Good questions:goodvibes
I suppose the "tell the truth" part could have been left out. It was not meant to stir people up. More just flair for my thread ;)
As for where I got the idea people didn't like FJ, I read some threads about DISers being really unimpressed with the ride. There were references to the movie being "blurry" and the "dementors on a stick" looking cheap. It looks like everybody LOVES this ride. I go to Florida in 15 days!!!:cool1:
so, r u going to try out HP this trip?

if you never did, you should; these things are fun and fun is good!

fyi, there is long history of those blinded by dust, of the pixie variety, who take pot-shots @ those who enjoy Universal or....gasp....enjoy both Disney & U (especially in the pre HP days)

many times the judgements are issued by those who never stepped forth onto U property:confused3, and the sentiment often has the phrase somewhere "...that would never happen at walt disney world...".

i do not like them Sam I Am, I do not like green eggs and ham

don't take it personal, i'll go out on a limb & venture that our hides are collectively thinning from repeated

Totally off topic - but just some FJ advice. Yesterday I stopped in after work for a quick ride. I was leaning over looking down when the ride hard stopped and the lights came on. With the sudden stop I bashed my head on the ride restraint and literally saw stars! (I always thought that was just an expression) :lmao:

So sit back in those seats with your head against the head rest. I will only make that mistake once. Ouch!

Been there, done that, ducky_love but not on FJ, on another ride. I always try to keep my head back and relaxed, you never know when a ride is going to stop. :upsidedow

I wish I had ridden it more then once when DH and I were there a few weeks back to really take everything in. I was so pumped up on adreniline I think I missed a bit!:yay:
I'm a huge HP dork...DH's only exposure has been half watching to the movies when I am watching them on cable while he is doing something else.
We both loved WWoHP as a whole. Walked through the castle a bit to fast I think, but it really was beautiful inside and the ride was really wonderful, I found some of the film a smidge fuzzy but then we were moving fairly quickly and I didn't have my glasses on (didn't want Harry Potter and the busted-*** lenses). I was in awe the entire time and for the first minute or so of FJ all I heard was DH saying "this is so cool" until the ride got cranking and he started to feel it in the tummy.
All in all, just go in and enjoy. Have a butterbeer, appreciate the snow in summer and take the ride for what it is. A Ride. Life Changing? No. Heck of a good time? Oh yeah!

My 9yr old boy is fixated by the Wizarding World and it will be his first visit to it. Really hope that the Forbidden Journey isn't a let down! Especilally if the queues are as bad as I fear over Xmas!

I am beginning to wonder if this ride is not meeting expectations, but kind of like Star Wars the Phantom Menace, people were SO excited about it that they think fooled themselves into liking it, when in fact, in a couple years, they'll realize it sucks.

I have never ridden it. Is it as good as all the hype? Tell the truth. I'm a big girl I can handle it;)

Love thrill rides btw.

I don't set my expectations high for anything that way I'm never disappointed. That being said. I LOVED IT! It is such a smooth ride experience. I rode it about 4 times during our vacation. Better than spider man which I rode when it first opened and then again this year and didn't like all that much. I felt like I had been tossed around in a garbage can when I got off.

imo, life changing events aren't all they're cracked up to be;)

take the good times where you find them :goodvibesusually in the most unexpected moments.

THIS is why the ride itself isn't a huge draw for us. WE all noticed the blurry screens and I think it is more in how fast the simulation goes that made me so ill. DD15, also got quite sick, even though we had been on motion sickness pills for two days.

No complaints about the rest of the land though. I just wanted to walk around looking at everything; just wish all those other people weren't in my way. :rotfl:

I think people get sick too because of how close you are to everything. If the vehicles were further back from the action I think your brain would be able to process better.
