We are heading to WL on Oct. 16-25. This will be our first time at WL. I believe that I read somewhere on this board about a craft time offered in the afternoon at the resort. Does anyone know anything about this---like what time does it happen and what is the cost? Also, is there a charge for the petting zoo at Fort Wilderness? Thanks for any info.

The crafts are free and at the Cubs Den (for the kids, I think that is what it is called). You will recieve a newletters from WL when you check in...I think they are around 3:00pm. Don't know about the petting zoo, we never did that.

The craft time last summer was around 2:00pm and was free. They had a simple little craft for the kids to do (ours was a caterpillar out of a half of an egg carton) and then free activities such as coloring, lincoln logs videos and such. It was a nice little activity for DD4 while we were taking a mid-afternoon break from the parks. Never been to the petting zoo at FW but I believe I read somewhere there is a small fee to get in. Maybe someone else can help you with that part.

Ther is no charge for the petting zoo. There is $2 charge for the pony ride. They have a nice variety of farm animals and some peacocks. All the animals are penned in, and you are not allowed in. The pony ride takes place in the petting zoo. There is no set course. The parent walk the horse and rider through the zoo, so if the zoo is not crowded and there's no one else waiting for the ride, you can meander around for awhile, like we did. I didn't see anybody clocking us. The only reason my DS4 got off the horse was because he wanted to see the animals.

If you have young children, it's really a nice place to spend some quiet time. We had to cut our stay short because we had 5PM HDDR ps. The next time we go, we plan to spend more time there, maybe do trail end buffett and camp fire too.

When we were at WL in 2001 they also had craft time by the pool, behind the bar area. They were making dream catchers out of yarn.
When you check in you will get a sheet listing all the WL activities for the week.
