Standard room sizes:
DLH: 364-415 sq. feet
GC: 353 sq. feet
PP: 364 sq. feet
I think one reason why families with 3 kids tend to like the DLH is that you are typically assigned one of the the 415 sq. feet rooms (these have a daybed). These views can come with great views, unlike the daybed rooms at the GC that over look the car parking area.
I don't mind the walk from the Disneyland Hotel. It is a really nice walk thru downtown Disney (no cars, just music, lights, trees and shops) and only takes about 4 minutes more than the walk from the GC. It is actually a very pleasant walk, and nothing like the walk down Harbor.
The Paradise Pier has good sized rooms with daybeds as well. The other great thing about Paradise Pier is that unlike GC and DLH, it has lots of suites. I think there are like 27 suites in the PP. This means you have a very good chance of being upgraded to a suite when you stay there, which is what happened to us in June. It was incredible having all that space with such a nice view of California Adventure. That is a pretty daytime and night time view, and one of the biggest perks of that hotel.
