For Two People - Why Would You Want A 1BR?

My reasons...(like we'll even have the chance to get a 1br for just 2 of us anytime soon....)

1. Whirlpool tub....particularly at OKW where there's plenty of room for 2.

2. King bed

3. Washer/dryer....can pack lighter, warm the bath towels, etc....

4. Full kitchen....big fridge for drinks, ice cream, etc...can prepare a late breakfast after sleeping in....

Ah, well...I guess my "vacation as a couple" fantasy has become obvious.....though our actual plans for the future also involve some concierge stays and lots of restaurants...the ones we can't take all the kids to!

We're looking forward to spoiling ourselves someday!

King bed
Washer/dryer
Full size refrigerator. Even if we don't "cook" . We have milk for coffee and cereal, a couple of bottles of wine, bagels, OJ, ice cream, leftovers from the first night meal out, etc. Just fits better in the big refrigerator.
Jacuzzi.
Big closet.

We bought figuring that we could studio it and have many mini vacations throughout the year(2hrs. and 15min. from driveway to check in). Did it first 2 times and then did the 1BR. Decided to not do as many mini trips and just enjoy the plusses of the 1BR. I like to cook so the kitchen is great. Love the shower and tub is ok. W/D no bearing since we could bring enough for 3 or 4 days. Really stretch out in the L/R. Comfortable bed.
If we could only go once a year we would start with a studio and then move to a 1BR to finish the vacation to maximize the points.
Funny thing is that we now have a motor home and go to FW quite frequently and have a smaller bedroom, a smaller bathroom, a smaller kitchen and a smaller living room yet we totally enjoy our stays. Been thinking about renting out or transfering points but keep on waiting to see if there is going to be another Members Cruise. Can only hope and wait.

We could do with out the jacuzzi, and the king size bed...and even the full size kitchen. But I've been too spoiled having the washer/dryer right in the room...I can't see us ever staying in a studio - unless it's for such a short time that I know we won't need to do laundry. Packing is so much easier knowing I don't have to take enough to last the entire trip.

My DH would rather stay in a studio than a 1-bedroom for just the 2 of us. (He feels a 1-bedroom uses up too many precious points!) I like the 1-bedrooms, but I'll take a studio anyday if it means a longer trip.

We don't use the jacuzzi, don't cook, and we're used to a queen bed. DH gets up early everyday, so doing laundry gives him something to do while he's waiting for me. ;)

It's just a matter of personal preference. (However, next year for our family reunion, a 2-bedroom will be necessary!) ;)

I would say the same thing alot of others are saying, full kitchen, W&D in the unit, living room ect.

Now I am going to go a bit further and say that when my friend and I reenact our first trip to WDW in 2008, when we are 40, I am getting us a two bedroom unit. I thought about a studio because of the seperate beds, but then decided the full kitchen and W&D would come in handy, but a one bedroom is out, because I am not the type to share a bed with anyone other than my husband or my kids, so rather than have her delagated to the sleep sofa, I am splurging on a 2 bedroom, that way she will have her own room, bathroom ect.

Sound good to me! We have a 2 bedroom for December too for 3 of us so our guest doesn't have to use the sofa.

I would ask the OP if you have stayed in a 1 BR yet? If not, do it once and judge for yourself. DH and I would only go back to a studio if absolutely necessary to squeeze one extra trip out of our points. Otherwise, it's 1 BR and the jacuzzi tub for us!

I always stay in a one bedroom or larger, it would not seem like a vacation for me to do otherwise. I have the same reason everyone else does.

We do both. In April when the points are higher, we book a studio and usually it is just the two of us. When we go in October, we book a one bedroom or lately it's been a two bedroom because we have been inviting people with us. It's always fun to share!

Needless to say we have added on to our original 150 point package. We are still going two or three times a year but we can now invite people with us on at least one of the trips.

Try it ... you'll like it!

Haven't tried a studio yet in 6 years.

Why Would Two People Want A One Bedroom With A Jacuzzi, Walk -In Shower & King Bed????

 :happy2: :love2: :flower3: :drinking:

Your plan to stay in a studio will work UNLESS you try a 1 bedroom. Then you will not go back. We never cook. It is not about the kitchen for us, it is about home-away-from-home. I know because we also loved the studios and then tried a 1 bedroom. It is always nice to have a studio available as a backup if points are REALLY stretched.

I started a thread several months ago where I asked if any singles ever stayed in a 1BR and I was really surprised by the number of solo travelers who get a 1BR just for themselves - no guests.

We can't go more often than once a year, so saving points for more trips isn't an option. Since our trips are at least a week, we need the washer/dryer so we don't have to bring so many clothes, and need the real kitchen to make a few real meals.

I think I could learn to love that studio, though, if it meant we could go more often!! We would still probably get a 1 BR some of the time -- maybe we would have to buy more points!!!

Another vote for the one bedroom. I am an early riser. My wife is not.

I can get up as early as I want, close the bedroom door, and enjoy the morning!

Okay, you all have sold me on the 1BR :D. Interesting that no one posted that they would rather stay in a Studio to save points. Anyway, I guess it all comes down to how much we plan to go in any given year. If going, when points are low but not doing anything else with points that year, I'll look into a 1BR. If it is a year when we might want to do a week at VWL and a week at HHI, I'll think about studios.

I think you have the right idea about how to manage points. That aversion we have to staying in a studio is exactly why we added on points!

OK, just so you could have one vote in favor of that :D

DW and I always stay in studios. But, we go down 3-4 times a year, and usually at least twice with family or friends. In those cases, we always get a 1 or 2BR. But, when it's just the two of us, the studio suits us fine.

And, yes, it does save points for those "bigger" trips.
