We've been to WDW, my DD26 and myself, many times. But now we've got a question about watching fireworks which we've usually watched right there.

My DD26 and DF got to WDW today and are spending the day at Epcot, but it is pretty cold. (I'm so jealous, lol, but it's cold so a little less jealous, lol). She texted asking for some suggestions on where to watch tonight's fireworks indoors. Not sure there is a place for indoor viewing there, was thinking about chef de france if they went in for dessert maybe? But, they are figuring they'll probably change their plans and try watching fireworks at MK inside somewhere. They are staying at the Poly for the first time, (again a bit jealous, lol). Aren't there a couple places either there or GF or Contemporary they could actually try to go to tonight to watch from indoors? Or even maybe on a balcony with the building to their backs to shield from the wind? Too bad they didn't have their Ohana ressie tonight!
Well, any help would be great so I can pass it along to them, we'd really appreciate it very much!

TIA!! :)

which fireworks? Hollywood's there is no option. epcot you might be able to get dinner in japan at the table non-hibatchi and get a seat at the window looking out at the lake but there will be no soundtrack.

MK, contemporary and watch from the MK side of the building but you might need to step outside onto the patio for great view as it's tinted windows. (4th floor). Better is quickly getting a reservation and eat at california grill. great indoor place to watch them from being so high up to see everything. doesn't need to be timed for the fireworks, eating anytime gives you the option to watch from up there (but will cost you).

For beer heater, trader sams at poly and then run out to the beach just in time with your drink and then run back in as soon as it's over. you'll be outside for abotu 15 minutes. there is other bars or just use the lobby to stay warm until it's time.

you could do that trick all over epcot also as suddenly cold (which today isn't being the second day) less peopel will be in the way to get a nice spot last second.

damn, now I want to go see fireworks. sometimes living close is not a great thing.

Not sure if they are looking for dinner, but Tokyo Dinning has awesome windows that overlook the lagoon from a second floor vantage. You can request a window seat when making a reservation.

They could go up to the lounge/bar of Cali Grill and watch from the windows there. If the bar/lounge is full, though, I'm not sure if they'll let them up. As Accident mentioned, they could go to the Poly and just go out to the Trader Sam's patio at fireworks time or even the railing at the Poly marina (they should be able to hear the music piped in on the Trader Sam's patio. It's outside, but they could then quickly go back into the Poly lobby. There is a 4th floor observation deck at Contemporary. It's outside, but again, they would just be outside for the fireworks and could then go back inside.

I also want to point out, MK closes at 8 tonight, if they are in epcot and aren't moving towards the buses by now, they aren't making it.

California Grill is a good suggestion. There were 2 nights last week when the counter at the bar was completely empty from the time we entered until we left; however, the lounge was full.

Check out Spice Road table in Morocco...They have glassed in, inside seating on the lake at Epcot to watch Illuminations. They can just order coffee and dessert or something and they should have tables. (Actually there's one at 8:25 for two). If it's MK fireworks, Cali Grill lounge or Trader Sam's.

Probably too late now but for others, Spice Road Outdoor Patio is an option because it's full of big heaters. We've done it. Limited number of tables along the water, and probably two-three deep can have some view but if it's cold some may avoid.

I forgot about the heaters...The patio is also great because it is covered, so if it is drizzly you won't get wet, usually.

Thank you very much to all who replied here! This was great and very helpful! I definitely appreciated it and DD26 and DF did as well. I sent her all the responses and they ended up going back to the Poly beach to watch and then went in to the bar. They were pretty tired since it was their arrival day, so they figured they would be right at their resort to get back to their room pretty quick when they were done for the day. They said it worked out great! We're saving the info as some were things we didn't realize, such as the glassed in area at the Spice road restaurant! I think we'll do that on our next trip for illuminations!
Cali grill sounds good as well. Thanks again!

Hi Minniekins! how rude that they left you at home ;) I hope it warms up for them before they have to leave.

If the weather is good, get a patio seat... Although you can see Illuminations from inside, the better view is outside, IMO. Also, as mentioned before, the patio is covered and, when needed, heated, which I'd forgotten about because we didn't need heat the day we visited :)
