For us, last night, the 4th of July was super loud at our house. We put the baby, 9 months, to bed at normal time. She woke crying 45 min later. I tried rocking her and she would doze off but then wake up to every huge bang, which sounded like it was in our backyard. I just got her up and we went downstairs. We let our DD3 stay up late for the first time. She was doing great. The baby was happy as long as i was holding her but then I took the cranky baby upstairs and back to bed after an hour, hoping she would sleep. Nope, it was more crying and BOOMS! so we came back downstairs. She was happy to be back with the action and wasn't scared of the super loud booms, since she was with me. I tried bedtime at 11:30pm, about 4 hours late, and nursed her and off she slept til morning.

So for my upcoming trip to Disney, i realized we can stay up, i can go to MNSSHP on my bday with the kids. DD3 went to bed after i got the baby in, and we're all up normal time of 7:30am. Happy so far, just like normal.

my DD3 has been able to sleep through them in past years. One year our neighbors directly behind us shot off some that sounded like a machine gun. She slept through it!

Lol! We did a trial run of fireworks last night to see how DS reacts to them before our trip. We live and die by the sleep schedule, so last night was his first night awake past 9 pm since he's been sleeping through the night. He did well staying up late, though he did sit quietly in my lap for nearly an hour which is so different, given the longest he'll sit still (when not strapped in) for anything is about the length of a sneeze. Took maybe 15 minutes to get him to sleep around 10:30, though I was surprised given the popping around the neighborhood. Shouldn't surprise given the thunderstorms he's slept through, but still, thank god for the fan white noise in his room. He slept in until 8:00 am, which is about an hour late for him. So, hmmmmm...if this mimics a later park night, I'd say definitely no rope drop for us the next day! I'm glad to see he can roll with it, but goodness knows when they're little, a few months later can mean a totally different set of preferences and behavior. (Ha! What am I saying? Sometimes you can wake up in the morning to find a totally new personality!) Fingers crossed though, because Mama wants to see Wishes!

I said the same thing to my husband! Maybe in Disney she will do ok with a few late nights. The only problem for us, is that now we are in "summer mode" and staying up a little later then usual each night, sleeping in later, etc, but when we have our trip this fall, we will be in back to school mode, so that might make a huge difference.

for us our trip is in the fall too, so that is a few months away, which makes a huge difference for the baby.. however i will hope for the same result. last night when i put her in her otherwise loved bouncer for bedtime, she was crying crying crying, like she remembered the horrible night before. I told her that her bed had nothing to do with the booms, it was outside, but at 9 months she has her own idea of what things are. I had to take her out, cuddle and comfort nurse her, then try again, and she went to sleep like normal. DD3 was fine, no meltdowns at all. I can't believe SHE made it to 12am on the 4th. I remember being very old, lol, before i ever could stay up til midnight. SHe doesn't nap either.

I highly recommend taking a white noise maker (or two) with you. We have found that if we can get the baby to sleep before the fireworks begin, then the noise maker will drown out enough noise to keep them sleeping.

My son slept through the fireworks on July 3rd at MK and the fireworks at Epcot on July 4th last year! Didn't even budge LOL. He had just turned 1.

my daughter will have just turned 1 also, hoping for the same result! She loves sleeping in her full recline stroller so she'll probably do the same!

Yep. He was in a full recline position and I put the sun shade all the way down mostly (left the bottom part open just to make sure he would keep cool) with a blanket over the top to at least help with the noise and lights. Even though I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered either way.

She loves napping in her stroller. I'm thinking we'll just have her sleep there at night. It would be a lot more comfy than a pack n play, plus she'll be used to sleeping in there already. She can fall asleep in there and we'll just roll her into the room and park her by our bed.
