To play devil's advocate here, if this particular couple (older with grown kids) moved into a new neighborhood with bigger (4 BR) houses that was advertised as "family friendly", shouldn't they expect it a little or be more tolerant? Is it reasonable to think that children will never make noise or go on their lawn?
DISCLAIMER: The kids know they are not to go on their lawn and don't. Sometimes balls will roll in and are quickly retrieved.
My childhood was spent running around my neighborhood, playing with kids, having fun. Not only were we tolerated by the neighbors, they watched over us and acted like second sets of eyes for our parents. That seems so "Leave it to Beaver" now.
