It seems that category 12 is only available gty. Since there are so few it appears that nearly everyone gets upgraded. My question is if you booked two rooms and one or both were upgraded does DCL make the effort to keep the rooms near each other? Has anyone ended up with rooms far apart?

I am sure that with groups -- going with extended family or friends -- that they may not be as close as you might want (or might be too close, depending on how you feel about the other group!) but I don't want to book 2 rooms for our family of four if there is any real possibility that we would end up on opposite ends of the ship, or different levels of the ship.

If one lead name has booked 2 cabins, they will either upgrade both or neither...and if you have adjoining or nearby cabins, they will keep it the same. If you have a gty, you have no room assignment, so they can put you wherever.

We did have one situation where the TA called and said that DCL had offered us an upgrade. We had 24 hours to accept or reject it (like we would reject--ha ha). THey did tell us what the cabin number of the upgrade would be. However, on that trip, we had an assigned cabin, not a gty.
